  1. On our 5th Wedding anniversary my husband handmade a bunch of redgum tulip buds (I had tulips in my wedding bouquet) They sit on my buffet near the front door, they are the first thing I see everytime I enter the house.

  2. Easy peasy. For my 40th birthday my husband tracked down the most exquisite pair of Manolo Blahnik evening shoes. I'm a shoe addict, but would never spend up so big on myself. I danced the night away in them and every time I look at them I'm reminded of how well he knows {and loves} me.
Aside from that, I just adore the handmade gifts my gal makes for birthdays, mother's day etc. Made with love is always best.

  3. I don't have one that stands out from all the others but on our 10 years of being together this weekend just passed.. my partner and I agreed no gifts but instead he got me two of the great Patrick Swayze films on DVD (Dirty Dancing and Ghost) and some gorgeous handmade chocolates (which I got when we arrived home from a beautiful dinner).
A nice touch and completely unexpected – for me its the small things 🙂

  4. Back when we were teenagers my boyfriend gave me a large cardboard box filled with 100 Freddo Frogs (my fave). We've now been married nearly ten years, and I still love Freddos.

  5. Last Christmas my dad gave my three year old son and I a membership to the Melbourne Zoo – basically unlimited free entry to most zoos in Australia. It's excellent; the zoo is a short tram ride from my place, and on a sunny day we can just jump on the tram and head to the zoo without having to pay the rather exxy entrance fee. And he's at that age where each time we go, he notices something new and interesting, so we always have a great time.

  6. A faux stained glass framed mirror. It was for my 14th birthday from my brother. Picked out with much love (and the help of a few girls he umpired with) but it was the effort that he went to, hoping to get me something I'd absolutely adore, that was the best part of the present. It'll forever have pride of place in my house.

  7. When I was around 14 and going through some super duper rough patches (especially with my parents – we fought ALL the time), we went away on a holiday and I remember going to a small art gallery and falling in love over a piece of calligraphic and watercolour art. It was an irish poem and just beautiful. Two months later on my birthday, my Dad gave me that piece of art much to my shock! I still remember that… knowing that with all of the hateful stuff I said to him, and the times I ran away (for no good reason!) and blamed him.. he still took the time to see what I liked, and go and buy it secretly for me.. Yep, that it was best present 🙂
