52 Week Project: One, Two, Three.

I

hate having my photo taken. Hate it. If I’m in your company I see you reach for a camera from your handbag, that would be the time that I quietly disappear to the bathroom. I hate it so much that for our wedding I requested two things: No full length shots {which were ignored, thankfully} and no photo session.

I just wanted happy snaps, no posing.

And then there’s Facebook. Not only are there bad photos, but now there out there for public view. Fan-bloody-tastic.

I started the 52 Week Project last Monday. Amanda from the blog Mocking Bird left a comment saying that she did a similar project last year, but she took self portraits instead. At first that seemed like hell to me. But then I got thinking. This is the year of ME. This actually makes sense. So I switched it around and now I’m going to take a photo of myself every week {eek. What am I getting myself into!}. I’m playing catch-up so here are my first three…

Lacey and I were playing dress-ups in this last one. Funny.

Let me know if you decide to play along. xx

  1. Hey there, I'e been following along with your blog for a while now. This is my year of Me too!! That's why i started blogging – to find me again. Just popped over to see your other blog. 4. Isn't it funny that when we look back on photo's of years gone by, they don't seem as bad as we remember, yet photo's of ourselves 'now' always are worse than we imagined?

Loving your blog (esp. the vintag-ey feel and layout!)

  5. Hooray!
It is really satisfying when it's all over.
I mainly did it because I wanted to work on my portrait work and when you haven't got a lot of willing models around, why not use yourself?
I hate having my picture taken and often end up feeling that I hate myself when I see my photos, so I thought it was probably a good confidence booster to try and take them myself and make them good.
I ended up not liking lots of them but it was good for me to put it out there anyway.
But I did end up with quite a few that I did like.

Hooray for giving it a go, Chantelle. 🙂

  6. i know u have bad self image etc… but telle, from those 3 pics posted, you look stunning in all 3!! It is so hard to understand others poor self image can exist, when to others they are so gorg!!

    BUT i totally understand it!!!

    Fun game!

  7. I love the last photo Chantelle! I can't wait to have a daughter to play dress up with!

I used to paint my sister's face when we play dress up! Or one time, I told her, let me dress you up as a sushi.

And I rolled her in layers of blankets where she couldn't get out. I think she ended up crying. I am so mean…but fun memories!

  13. Hi Chantelle!
Good luck with the project. They're lovely pics so far, but I hope you stop hiding eventually 😉 The camera likes you a lot more than you give it credit for.

  14. Chiming in late to say that I love your portraits and that they show such different sides of you. My admiration for you continues to grow! 🙂

I hate photos too and one day hope I have the guts to do the same.
