Chewy Chocolate Slice

Ingredients

Scale
  • 125g butter
  • 1 tablespoon golden syrup
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 1/2 cup plain flour
  • 1/2 cup caster sugar
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 1/4 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 egg

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius {160 degrees Celsius if you have a fan-forced oven}.
  2. Grease and line a 18cm by 28cm slice pan.
  3. In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the butter and golden syrup. Remove from heat when butter has melted. Remove from heat, and place choc-chips in the pan, and stir until melted thoroughly.
  4. Combine the flours, caster sugar, and oats in a large bowl. Stir to combine.
  5. Add the butter mixture and stir. Add the egg, and stir until completely combined.
  6. Press the mixture into the prepared tin, and smooth over using the back of a spoon.
  7. Place in the oven and cook for 20 minutes. Let cool {if you’re patient enough} slightly, and then cut into squares.
