Sleep tight: Six pillowcases to make your bedroom happy

I never much cared for bedlinen before moving into our house. Because really, you sleep on it, so who cares? But then I bought my first set of Castle and Things pillowcases and it was love. I love decor that makes me smile, and a good, bright pillowcase makes me happy. Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it.

Here’s six I’m loving right now…

pillowcases

ONE: I love linen | TWO: I love linen | THREE: Castle and Things | FOUR: Beneath The Sun | FIVE: Castle and Things | SIX: Castle and Things

I know some of these are on the pricey side, but if you’re in Australia and live near an Adairs, they sometimes have some great sales and some cute designs {they had nothing on their wesbite today for me to share}. I’ve picked up sets for less than $15. And if you’ve won the lotto or feeling like splurging, I bought this LazyBones set of sheets from Lark last Summer and it’s my favourite. Hubby cringes each time I put it on the bed, but it’s nice for him to get in touch with his feminine side. Riiiight?

What’s your bed wearing right now?

  1. I Love our sheets set ; white striped 1200 tc Sheridan, a wedding present 9 years ago so soft and beautiful. They are great for winter a bit too thick for Brisbane summer so we go down to 600tc then. The only sad thing is our sheets are just starting to fall apart so we are on the hunt for two new sets to replace them. These ones look fun!

  2. OH.MY.GOD!! I love that watermelon – that would be awesome for summer, I wonder if Sophie would like it … maybe I need a matching one ?!!?! 🙂

  3. Why IS bedding so expensive? $60 for ONE pillowcase? They are gorgeous, and I would love them on my bed, but for that price I can’t justify it. I really don’t get it, so if someone could explain I would love to hear!!

    • I guess because its made with better quality materials and not as many are made . Plus when you buy from some who is an artist/designer opposed to a giant company like target or kmart then the dollars are a little more because they ethically get made and not in bulk. We sleep for 6-8 hours a day. Every single day of our lives. I don’t mind spending a little more on bedding when its great quality. Plus these designers take more risks on their designs. For a small business its a high risk product because the majority of the world will go a cheap white pillow case from a giant retailer. The i love lines cases are a great price point, they are screen printed and you get two pillow cases. The owner/designer isnt wholesaling them to shops so that she can keep the prices down…thats also another factor in pricing. The designer has to wholesale to shops so that the shops can make a small margin on it as well, but the designer probably makes little money on the product on wholesale. It may seem like a lot, but when you look into the product, and see that it is design and made by a very small team, and in some cases 1-2 people its not really all that much. You also wont be contributing to sweatshops. Almost all the big retailers are guilty of uses sweatshops. I hope this helps a little 🙂

      • Thanks for sharing Jayde.

Sorry, I missed your comment Erin. Definitely a splurge, but I love Rachel Castle. She’s a talented artist and I like that I’m able to support her and have nice linen. The quality is beautiful. x

  4. Lucky number five for me 🙂 I have a feeling my fifteen month old would pick the bananas!
