March 2013 Photo A Day Challenge list

Hello! Hello! Hello!

March is an exciting month in my family… filled with birthdays and presents and CAKE. And I do love me some cake. And it also means that it’s time to welcome another photo challenge list.

If you’ve never played before and are just stumbling across this {or perhaps a friend of family sent you} – welcome! We’re so happy to have you on board. You can find all the details on how to play below.

And if you’ve played before, you know how it works… but let me just say welcome back!

How to play!

Playing along with photo a day is super easy:
Check out the March photo a day list.
Each day look at the daily prompt and take a photo according to whatever the prompt is. For example for day 1 the prompt is L is for… Pick anything that starts with the letter L and snap it. It’s a great opportunity to get creative. Be inspired by a little creativity and see what you come up with.
Once you’ve taken the photo it’s time to share it. There are loads of places you can share it. See below for more details.
Check out other people’s photos. You can browse through them on my Facebook page, in the FMS Photo A Day Facebook group. Or on Instagram or Twitter just search for the #FMSphotoaday hashtag to see them all.

Where to play?

There are loads of places to be social and share your photos with the #FMSphotoaday community:

Instagram: Just upload your photo, use a fancy filter, add a caption and the hashtag #FMSphotoaday and then share.
Facebook: There are a few options here. You can simply share on your own personal page, among your own friends. Or you can upload to my page’s wall, or I’ve created a Facebook group for 2013. You can join it here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/FMSphotoaday/
Blog: If you have a blog, you could share each day or do a wrap up of all the photos at the end of the month.
Tumblr: Add your daily photos to your Tumblr feed.
Flickr: I’ll be playing around more with Flickr in the New Year. You can get their app {for free if I remember correctly} and share your photos there, or upload on their web version. We also have a photo a day group here.
Twitter: You can share on Twitter by uploading the photo and sharing the hashtag #FMSphotoaday. Easy.

How do I remember the prompts?

There are a few ways you can grab the list or remember the prompts:
Come back here each day and click the button on the right-hand side to check out the list.
Right-click on the list above and save it to your desktop. Or if you’re on your phone you could take a screenshot and save it as your wallpaper. {To screenshot click the power button and home button at the same time}.
The very fabulous Doug has created a calendar for us. You can have the prompts added to your phone’s calendar by clicking here. It will open your calendar program and ask if you want to add the calendar. This works on iPhone, iPad, Android phone, Mac and PC. Alternatively you can view the calendar online in your browser here.

What’s the fab four?

Each day I’ll be picking four photos on each Instagram and Facebook that have caught my attention, and sharing them to my Facebook and Instagram. To have your photos in the running you can just share them to my Facebook page or the FMS Photo A Day group or the #FMSphotoaday Instagram feed, or both. It’s not a competition – just a fun way to put the spotlight on some photos from the community.

What do the prompts mean?

  1. Looking forward to another month playing đŸ™‚ And love that the prompt for my birthday (1st) is my initial!

  2. Thanks. I look forward to the 10th of March. It’s my oldests fifth birthday. It’s also the first time in almost 18 months I have been able to see her after things between me and my husband went sour. I cannot wait to see her and share a picture of my two daughters with you all ♡

  3. How come it keeps saying “An Indentical Subscribed Calendar account already exists?” when I try to put it on my Iphone calendar? Help!!

  4. I love the challenge … I just want to check that the link to the calendar by Doug is for March and not Feb. When I imported it .. I think it was Feb and I checked the other link and it was for Feb .

    Thanks again!

  5. I know i have added the list to the calendar on my iphone for the last 2 months, and i had to look high and low once to learn how to do it. now this time i can’t find the instructions on how to do that for the life of me! can anyone help me?

  6. So excited to continue doing this for March. I started your photo a day this year and have loved ever minute of it. I have so many friends that just love seeing what my next photo will be. 7. I’ve never done a whole month, the closest I got was January (20 days..) I am going to aim for March, but can’t promise a whole month LOL đŸ™‚

  8. This sounds like it might be a great way to force me to blog this month. I’ve been super busy and my blog posts have been sporadic and unimaginative. Does this start on March 1st? That may be an obvious answer but I just want to make sure. Have not participated in one of these before.

  9. I’ve had soo many comments on my photos. Girlfriends asking what I’m doing…..so, hopefully some new fmsphotoaday photo takers to follow this month.

  10. hi just wanted to say,i really enjoyed posting a pic a day this month. my son asked me to join, he is miles and miles away from me,and its been so great to look and see what he has posted,.then he looks for mine .this is something we can do together and share in every day, even if he is so far away.i also enjoy looking at all the great pics

  11. Ive loved photography since the start of high school, Im now 31, but after I had my baby 6 months ago I lost my photography “mojo” !!! no photo I took was good, I just lost my passion and drive for it and actually got very sad that Id lost that love forever, then a friend of mine from school Tammy Watson was doing the photo a days and I loved her photos, so I thought maybe Ill give it a try and from the first day, I felt like I was back….Ive missed a few days but every day Ive been excited to post my photos and makes me feel so good that my pics are appreciated by people I dont even know, also I have now, because of this, enrolled in a photography course Ive wanted to do for years!! so just wanted to say thanks, for some people it might just be a fun thing to do but for me it meant so much more…..sorry for the soppy post haha, I just wanted to let you know đŸ™‚ so excited for March!!!!

  12. I had a friend that has done the photo of the day and she had a blast! I’m excited about playing along too!

  13. This is a random question, but is there a special reason why some of the days have different colored numbers than the others? It’s always made me curious.. đŸ™‚

  14. This looks like so much fun! I just started a photo blog and I’m looking for something fun to do with it.. is it ok to jump in even if I missed a few days?
