Letter To Lacey: Thirty Months.

Fat Mum Slim /

Hello Miss Destruction.

You have the ability to destroy a room in one single swoop. You’re Trouble with a capital T. You never ever, ever {ever!} sit still.
Yesterday you put coins in my computer’s disc drive, the day before you emptied the bookcase by climbing up on a chair and the day before that you threw things in the toilet.
We put things up high so you can’t reach them, but they’re never high enough. You’ll climb and climb until you get your little hands on them.
The other day you put on mascara {as you can see above} and you kinda missed. “Like a tiger” you told your dadda.
You scream so loud I’m surprised the neighbours haven’t ever complained. You laugh just as loud too. I asked the lady next door if she ever heard you cry, and she said, “Yes. But I still thought it was cute”.
We don’t think it’s so cute. The crying, no. The laughing, yes.
The other day Dadda was putting together your trampoline {that you’ve seen a thousand times before} and as you lingered around him you cheered on, “That fantastic Dadda!”

That same day I told you all about Santa and how he brings gifts while you sleep. I wanted to amaze you. To get you all excited about the presents under the tree. All I got was a half-hearted, “That cool Mama”.
“You happy MumMum?” you ask me almost every day.
I wonder why you ask me that. Do I seem angry? Or mad? Or sad?
I am happy Lacey. I’m exhausted. But I’m happy.
Thanks for asking. xx

  • super cute that she asks if you are happy and I am so glad you are 🙂 Naomi

  • Very cute… and I love the mascara on her forehead and the glasses 🙂

  • Daddy's girl? Mind you, I'd cheer watching someone put together a trampoline too.

  • Gorgeous!

  • I visit your blog every day and read all about your thoughts, your day-to-day tiring things with a little girl – and I just remember back to when my 2 boys were small and think THANK GOD THAT'S OVER

  • That's very cute! I like the 'I am exhausted, but I'm happy!' Sounds like my crazy life!!

  • What a super sweet post!

  • That's such a great post. My three year old also asks every day “are you happy Mum?” – I thought it was a Tilly specialty. Yep, I kinda wonder why she's asking too. And my answer is the same as yours. Snap! xx

  • That is just so great! I love your letters to your Lacey. She is too cute with “Are you happy?” Awww….

  • Wow.. so funny reading this as it reminds me so so much of Miss Izzy. She did the exact same thing with my mascara last week…I was amazed at her efforts though, she actually managed to get some on the lashes too!

Izzy also asks me if I am “better now?” or “happy?” – they just pick up on absolutely everything… and yes, the destruction… I am not sure I will ever get used to that but you cant help but love it :o)

You capture it all so perfectly in your letters x

  • Elizabeth Saxe Coburg-Gotha is an evil woman, why do we slave away at work our whole lives for money with her face on

  • You…are…my…hero!!! I cant believe something like this exists on the internet! Its so true, so honest, and more than that you dont sound like an idiot! Finally, someone who knows how to talk about a subject without sounding like a kid who didnt get that bike he wanted for Christmas.

  • Have you considered about including some social bookmarking buttons to these blogs. At least for facebook.

  • Would you be concerned with exchanging hyperlinks?

  • There is noticeably a bundle to find out about this. I assume you made sure nice points in options also.
