Win a $250 voucher at Byron Bay Threads!

With any change of season I always find that I’m wishing for a new wardrobe filled with clothes for the change in weather. This season {and for Winter too} I want a cute cape, a sweet blazer, a few new dresses, over-sized knits and some comfortable tan boots. Oh, and a few scarves too!

If you’re wishing to add to your wardrobe just like me, today might be your lucky day! Byron Bay Threads have offered up a $250 voucher to use over in their online store for one lucky Fat Mum Slim reader! Go crazy!

I’ve had a browse around the store this morning and picked out a few things that I love and would buy if I had the voucher burning a hole in my pocket. How apt is the bag! And only $21!

The great news is that even if you don’t win, you can head on over and receive FREE postage and 25% off your order just by using the code ‘fatmumslim’.
I am going to open this competition up to Australian AND International readers. The voucher is for $250 Australian dollars – so International readers will just have to take that into consideration.

To enter simply answer the following question: When it comes to clothing, do you shop more online or in store, why?

  1. I tend to shop in store most of the time due to my 'unique' body shape and I usually find that until I try things on I have no idea what the clothing will look like on my body. If I see something online that I fall in love with I will definitely take the risk and buy it.

  2. If I know it will fit me, online is great, but I too have a unique body shape (watermelonesque) so for certain things (esp tops) I need to try them on.

Thanks for pointing this online shop out – off to clickety click!

    Love Mrs Woog xx

  3. I think for me, it's 50/50. I do love browsing my favourite stores and often pick up things for my husband and housey items too.

Lately, I buy most of my and the kids clothes online. So much easier. I've never had any problems with sizes. I also buy stationary, books, glasses and beauty prodcust online too. Much cheaper and delivered to your door!

  4. I shop quite a bit at asos due to the range and because I am pretty time poor these days too. Nothing more exciting than lovely packages waiting for you at home!

  5. I too get very excited about change of season and clothes to go with it. Especially winter clothes! They're just so much more fun! So far I've decided I need a stripey scarf and some funky short boots for winter. But that's just the beginning! I've never really done too much online shopping. But for something like this I'm willing to give it a go! Would love to win!

  6. I swing both ways. With online shopping I look for a good return policy and tend to only buy styles I know that will suit me. I save experimenting for the change room. Love this store and will be checking it out now!

  7. I tend to do a bit of both – only cause I love to try everything on first! Three small people and me in the one tiny changing room though means online shopping often saves the day! And really, is there anything better than getting something in the post that you forgot you ordered!?

  8. Hi Everyone from fatmumslim Ben here from Byron Bay Threads I just wanted to draw everyone's attention to our free returns policy ” for whatever reason if you change your mind once you receive your clothes you can return them and we will not only refund your money but we will also pay the cost of you posting it back to us ” so you can have total peace of mind when shopping in our Online Clothing Shop . So there is no risk when buying from us. Love all the comments and hope everyone has a wonderful day .

  9. I have started to shop more online after finding some great online shops!! Also since having children I find shopping in shops kinda stressful..

  10. I am an online shopping addict.

Trying to shove myself and 3 kids into a fitting room while keeping one hand on the curtain and the other on my dignity so I much prefer to try things on at home.

I just have to suck up the fact that if it doesnt fit I have to post it back. But I am cool with that.

  11. I tend to try stuff on in store and then buy online! I like to shop around. Plus with things like asos you'd be crazy not to buy online!

  12. I'm an online convert! I mean, what can be better than surfing a gazzillion stores online..without having to take my slippers off!! The added bonus..my hurricane of a 17 month old has no opportunity to practice her tantrum efforts in a public domain.

Off to have a lookey! Thanks for sharing 🙂

  13. Hi!
I find I shop more from the store than online for clothes. I have a hard time spending the money if I'm not sure it will fit. Maybe if I win, I might have success.
    Sandra

  14. I live in a One horse town with no shops, so online shopping is my saviour. I love and am so grateful that it exists! Otherwise I would be dressed only by Go-Lo

  15. Hi there, I definitely shop more online than in store. Online shopping offers so much more choices..delicious independent pieces & also beautiful vintage finds. I love the thrill & efficiency. (Until I get the credit card bill & realise that it was in Pounds!!).xx

  16. I wish I could shop more online but I just can't seem to buy stuff that fits. Hopefully one day I can develop some brand loyalty to a style and size that fits and then I can shop to my hearts content from my living room!

  17. Hi Chantelle! Your trip to the USA looked and sounded wonderful (if a bit too fast).

I would love to shop online more, but tend to shop instore as I don't think Australia really has enough variety to online shop yet. Hopefully more stores will come online in the near future.

Cheers for now and hope your having a great weekend.

    Megan B

  18. i shop 90% online, and i buy multiple items every week. My parcel man is now my best friend and we play a guessing game before he passes over my parcel. I have to guess which store it has come from. The choice of clothes online far exceeds what i can get from any shopping centre or department store near home and I love being able to shop in Europe or the US from the comfort of my home! x

  19. I'm buying a lot more online. I'm a little time poor these days and everything I'm seeing in shops is same, same, same.

I love discovering something new and having something to wear that no one else does.

  20. I USED to be an in-store girl, but since I moved to Hong Kong, I can't walk into a store without being stalked!! “Herro, missy” followed by one-step-behind-you service until you either purchase or run, crying out of the store!! I wrote about it once on my blog it freaked me out so much! http://tinyurl.com/3ke8hty. Point being, I'm now an online girl and ADORE this store 😉

  21. Having recently lost almost 40kgs (yay) clothes shopping was always pure torture for me and I avoided it as much as I could. I'm just now discovering the joys of online shopping (funnily enough at stores I found through here) and am having so much fun “browsing” through pretty images.

  22. I hardly ever shop online due to some mishaps from the Husb buying me stff, but am quietly becoming more confident doing so. I think it comes down to knowing what clothing suits your body type and taking it from there.I do love online clothing when i find something unique and know I couldn't find it in store.

  23. If it's shoes, a bag or something I know will fit I'll buy online. Otherwise it's in store all the way…

    Thanks for the great giveaway!

  24. A generous giveaway, Chantelle! With 3 children under 6 and doing the single income thing for the moment, I don't often buy clothes. But once I know what size I am in a brand's clothes, I'm happy to buy them online. Sportscraft is one of my faves. J x

  25. since moving to the country I definitely buy online a lot more – I really don't love trying things on in the shop either, but I think that is more because of the 2 kids that I usually have to take with me!

  26. For me, it's in store… I am impossible to fit so I worry about online. The thought of having to send back stuff that doesn't fit via return post leaves me cold.

That said, no time like the present to give it a go, right?! 😉

Thanks for another great comp, Telle. x

  27. I do a mixture of both online and in-store shopping. Price can sway me tremendously so if I see something in-store I may come home and check to see if I can find the same item cheaper online! But at the end of the day nothing really beats meandering around the shops for hours on end 😉

  28. Shopping! My favourite thing! These days I do a lot of my shopping online. We live in a rural location and have Country Target or Millers to choose from… As much as I love th red circle boutique it doesn't do much for my figure 😉

  29. Online…probably 95% of the time. While I definitely love the fun of a day out shopping in-store, there is just way more variety to be found online. That, and it's always exciting getting packages delivered to my front door. It's like little (un)surprise presents to myself! 😉

  30. Firstly, love the look of the online store! 🙂
I shop a little of both. Its so easy to shop online and send things back if they don't fit. And there's something comforting about shopping for a glamourous outfit in the comfort of your daggy trakkies at home.
If I get the time I don't mind shopping at an actual store, but I rarely try things on and often end up taking things back!
I love the variety online shopping provides, and the strong Aussie dollar is making it even more enticing! 🙂

  31. I shop in store more at the moment as I don't know where the good online stores are and it kind of ends up being a bit of an impulse thing.
I LOOK online a whole heap more than in store and enjoy that.

  32. I've only ever bought in a store, I like to try something on to make sure it fits and looks good and walk out with bag in my hand and grin on my face 🙂

  33. I am buying much more online nowadays. During my pregnancy, the internet was a god-send for cute maternity clothes for work and now with a 7 week old little girl, going to the shops is a major ordeal. Maybe once I have had more sleep, I'll feel differently although with one income, my shopping days are over! 🙁

  34. I do the majority of my clothes shopping online because:

    – there are amazing bargains to be found with sales and ebay
    – many more international shops are starting to ship to australia, some with very reasonable shipping rates
    – i love getting packages in the mail!
    – i can do it at any time, with a cup of tea in hand and my trackies on. much nicer than westfield in peak shopping hour!
    – for some reason i am more susceptible to impulse purchases instore. unfortunately, this does not always hold true though!

  35. I shop in-store. The only clothing I've bought online was maternity bras, over two years ago. I am a little scared of buying online, mainly because I have a weird shape and I rarely find anything to fit me well. BUT, I have thought about it and would happily start shopping online if I found somewhere I liked.

  36. Now that I have 2 young children, I tend to shop online much more these days. Esp since I can get sales news delivered straight to my email inbox and go shopping from there all whilst I have a cup of tea in my hand and babies playing at my feet. No need to brave the crowds.

  37. Hard to believe I know but I have never shopped online for clothes for myself before. Raya yes but me – nope. I have so much trouble finding things to fit me in the store I hate the thought and hassle of having to resend lots of pretty parcels back if they don't fit.

  38. i tend to shop far more online,
    its perfect when the weather aint fine;
    no massive crowds to beat,
for cute shoes (it's a treat!)
far better than waiting in line!

thanks for the chance to win! xx

  39. I shop online most of the time now, no time or desire to drag two little boys who are not into that sort of thing to the shops.

  40. I'll be honest: I haven't really shopped anywhere since the last baby was born – unless you count Target for a pair of jeans to go with the maternity tops I'm still wearing on my newly enhanced figure. I'm a little leery of purchasing without trying on first, but I'd love the opportunity to be pleasantly surprised – not to mention some moula to help me break out of this funk! I think I'm ready to make the most of the new me!

  41. I love seeing all the new seasons styles come in and then sigh because the majority of them would look terrible on me lol
I love to browse online and then go in store to try them on.
I actually buy for my kids online all the time, me only if I know the sizing.

  42. I shop online most of the time, much more convienient with two little kiddies and a hubby that works away alot, trying on clothes with the kids in the change room is hard! I also love getting parcels in the mail <3

  43. I dont really shop online as I prefer to try things on first. Return policies are good for online stores but Im sure I would never end up returning it and then having a heap more clothes that dont fit ! Byron Bay Threads look good, so Im just about to take a peep at the website ! I may be converted to online shopping soon ;o)

  44. I shop more in store as I like to see what it looks like on. But I still buy online when I have urge to shop and don't feel like fighting the crowds and haven't got time to walk around looking 🙂

  45. I love online shopping! Especially being a full time mum with two kids under three!!! I would always steer clear of buying jeans online however – I'm a shortish size 10 apple.

  46. I love trying on clothes, but can spend hours “computer browsing” new looks as well. When I have found something I love, I'll head out for find it in stores to try on!

  47. I am spending so much more time shopping online lately. I quite enjoy having a browse in my lunch break for a dress to wear to an upcoming event. I even managed to purchase jeans recently and they fit like a glove! Unheard of right?!
I love the diversity of clothing available online compared with the shops too.

  48. I always buy online! Keeps me away from shops aka impulse purchases, plus I can get search out for exactly what I'm looking for! Heading to Byron Bay Threads right now….

  49. i love shopping in stores, i love to touch and feel first and love hunting for more unique finds…but i live in a rural/remote mining town so online tends to be my thing 🙂

  50. ooooh what a great giveaway!! Thankyou! I shop mostly online now for some classic key peices each season, although I fail at buying pants or skirts online, so these have to tried on first, hence bought in store!! But with overseas stores one season ahead, there is alot to be gained by buying online, onsale and before the season has come our way!

Ohhh i hope i win xx

  51. I'm still more of an in store shopper when it comes to clothes. SOOOoooo many times I've come close to buying online, then chicken out because I want to be able to touch and try before I buy. Maybe this prize could be my first proper dip into the online clothing shoppers world!

  52. I still prefer to shop instore purely because of sizing. I'm not just one off the rack size, it always depends on the make and material of the garment. When I have purchased online, I've always been disappointed with the fit, so to spare myself I go into stores and try on until I find something that fits and looks right..

  53. I shop in store as much as I shop online. Most of the time, shopping in store is more of an impulse shopping, because you see them, try them on, and you love them there and then. I shop online when I just feel like shopping, or I really need to shop. And lately I've been addicted to shopping online! When I shop online, I usually buy in bulk to save postage. So I'll collect all the things I want to buy until they pile up before clicking the checkout button.

But actually that way I always end up spending much more online!

    xo

  54. I tend to look online and then see if I can find it instore. Though for vintage items, I find online much better. I don't mind shopping online, I just worry about the fit sometimes, being tall I don't want things to end up too short!

  55. I love to fantasy shop online, that meaning I carelessly fill my cart with all the things I love, but never hit the checkout. I like to be able to try things on, so I do most shopping in store.

  56. Oh how I love to spend time wandering through the local and international sites and finding interesting pieces I don't see at my local stores … Then waiting for mr postman to bring me my goodies (and promptly hiding them from my hubby!). My kids are also recipients of such online wanders! That said, i buy the other 50 percent in person. Nothing like a little bit of instant gratfication!

  57. I shop online for my kids because they're an easy fit, every cut looks good on them. I shop online for unfitted pieces only, as I'm pretty fussy with fit. If an online shop had a great return/exchange policy then I'd be more likely to try buying fitted clothing from them. 🙂

  58. I have never bought any clothing online, as I have not known where to buy clothes from. I prefer to shop in person so I can try on the item of clothing and see if it fits me….or if its just made for the stick thin mannequins in the shop windows 😉

  59. With 2 little ones it is so much easier to shop online. I love looking at beautiful new things after the babes have gone to bed, and will often then go in store to try on and purchase.

But my inspiration comes from online shopping!

  60. Oooh, a competition! Thanks Chantelle!

I shop online and in person. Online, because I'm a mum and time-poor. Also you can get full refunds if it doesn't fit. And in person, on those rare occasions I have just one child AND money in the bank. Those in store purchases are usually for pants 😉 xx

  61. I used to be all about shopping in store but these days I have no time or patience to spend so much time in shopping centres (even in great ones like Bondi Junction). I am an online shopping convert plus I love receiving things in the post.

  62. For myself and my husband I tend to shop in store, but rarely shop at all! For my 2 little girls I shop online all.the.time! It's addictive. I think because they are so easy to shop for as they are standard sizes for their ages.

As a result we are on a first name basis with our local post office delivery lady 😉 Oops!

  63. I usually buy in stores (when I do actually buy any clothing for myself…), as I like to try stuff on (if I get the chance!) so that I know how it looks, and if it fits etc.

  64. Hi,

Since recently becoming a working from home mum of two, my laptop is my greatest shopping partner! It's pretty much always online for me. The ability to shop at midnight while the kids are sleeping minus the shopping centre tantrums and runaway child wins hands down!

  65. I love shopping online because you get to find different styles and things that aren't in store. It's all about the thrill of If it will fit or not. . . And if it does it's a job well done x

  66. I do a bit of both! I get a lot of tops and tees online because those are most guaranteed to fit but I will by pant and skirts in store to make sure I get the right fit. 🙂

  67. Usually in store for clothes, just because I need to try it on…unless its something I have had before and know the exact size and brand!! buy everything else online though, and am more than happy to give it a go with Byron Bay threads!!

  68. living in cairns i daydream about places that experience change in seasons. what i wouldn't give to be able to swap to winter clothes every now and then.

I tend to shop instore more then online. I love the good middle of the night purchase online but often am worried about the fit.

  69. I'm an op-shopper, so most of my clothing has been bought in stores, but I have made a few purchases online (especially for shoes). If I know what size I am in a particular store (as they're all a little different) then it's easy peasy.

  70. I shop way more online, possibly because it takes away the chance to try on clothes (which I absolutely will when shopping in stores), it's so easy to buy on impulse without really knowing how you will look in them.

Also, most online stores have such gorgeous styling that give me ample ideas on how to wear their clothes!

  71. Definitely more online! Toting 5 kids with me around the shops is bad enough just to get groceries, let alone if I wanted to go and find an outfit for myself… talk about stress 🙂 LOVE being able to chill at home after the kids are asleep, with my hot tea, my pjs, and my wish-list.

  72. For clothes it would be at the shops however the last time i bought myself would be a long time ago.
im still hoping to fit into my b.p (before pregnacy) clothes and slowly getting there.
But i do find that you can find some better thing online. 🙂

  73. Picture this: Our new family of four bolt around the house at 10.30am on a Saturday morning trying to get a baby, a toddler and two sleep-deprived adults out the door in 15mins. 15mins because we only have two hours on the outside to get to the shops, shop and be home to feed two tired grumpy youngsters and get them down for their afternoon naps. In the long list of things to do in the hour we inevitably get once we make it out, I may get ten minutes to look at clothes, and eight of those minutes is usually waiting for the sales girl to notice I want to buy something. Needless to say I now shop more often online…

  74. If it is for the kids -most of the time it is online, basically because I really don't enjoy taking 4 kids to the shops and it is not very often that I get to shop solo these days. If it is for me then it is half half, being on the curvy side of things I like to try before I buy so that means shops, but if it is a brand I know then I am happy to buy online.

  75. I shop both online and in-store for but to be totally honest for me I don't shop that much at all! I need someone to help me choose the clothes as I had no idea what I am doing? I have worked out it seems from growing in the country,my family only ever being event buyers (you must NEVER buy unless you have a special place to wear it too and it must never be excessive.) not knowing what my shape actually is and just generally not knowing what goes with what? Sadly I get more joy out of buying shop4kids then I do shop til you drop.I have no trouble at all buying for my kids!?
