What I love about Autumn…

Ah, I love you Summer… but I’m ever so glad to say goodbye to you for another year {or a little less}. Autumn is here and I am so happy that it is. Here’s a few things that I love about Autumn {or Fall for those playing in the Northern Hemisphere}:

the cooler weather {phew! Hopefully that’s the end of those stinkers!}
Bondi starts to get a little quieter as non-residents are less enticed by the beach
Ocean Street, Woollahra – it’s my favourite street and is lined with the biggest trees – I love what Autumn does to those trees {I’ll take pics one day}
the crunch of crisp leaves underfoot – Lacey is going to have a ball!
move over salads, and bring on vegetables & stews and best of all… soups!
a new season of fashion – yipee!
it’s birthday season for us Hubby, Ma, my Dad, aunts, uncles, cousins and then Miss Lacey turns 3! I love planning parties!

What do you love about Autumn? What are you looking forward to?

  1. I love wearing different clothes from my wardrobe – the mid sleeve instead of the sleeveless and thicker fabrics and styles that just aren't wearable in the heat of summer.

  2. I love autumn too – although I'm about to head into spring/summer over here in Hong Kong! I used to live on Ocean Ave (just over New South Head Rd, the 3-storey blue building on the corner?) and absolutely adored walking up that street through those trees. Such a beautiful place to live…..

  3. Oh here HERE! on your point number 2 Chantelle. For years hubby & I have loved the onset of the cooler months, bringing a calm & quiet to our beloved Coogee Beach. As selfish as it sounds, we just like to enjoy it in all it's untouched beauty.
    Ocean St is divine :o)
    Autumn is such a beautiful time of year, the days warm and generally humidity free, the nights are crisp and cool. Something about Autumn makes life feel that little bit slower, ahhhh bliss!
    I also love that Easter conveniently falls in Autumn. Hot cross buns and family catch up's. Brilliant!

  4. Oh… I love Autumn colours! And letting the kids crunch through the leaves! And all the warm comfort food that warms you from the belly out! It's also the quiet time of year for my immediate family as far as birthdays go.
    Chocolate is so much better in the cooler months too! mmmmm…

  5. Having lived in the US for 11 years, Fall/Autumn grew to really be my favourite season of them all. The college football buzz, (ice) hockey season around the corner, the cooler weather, crisper mornings, looking forward to fall holidays like Halloween and Thanksgiving… And there's just something about the sun in fall that can't be explained. In summer it beats down on you and can be so miserable, but in fall, it just lights the day, and warms everything it touches. Sorry, like I said, it can't be explained. Up here in QLD the heat has been intolerable. I for one am REALLY ready for the cooler months to be here.

  6. hi! i just happened upon your blog from freckled nest and was peeking around a bit. i saw your ebook and purchased it. can't wait to read through and get some great idea!

  7. That's funny how it's autumn for you guys there, and it's almost spring here!
    I guess I thought the seasons were pretty much the same, at the same time, everywhere….
    But, when it is autumn in the US, I love the colors of the leaves! Love the reds, the golds, the browns…pretty.

  8. As the cooler weather approaches my mind turns to only one thing….the food! How I love the comforting food of Autumn & Winter; casseroles, bakes, roasts and pies, crumbles, puddings and rich chocolate cake – Yum!
