What December Means To Me…

H

ere is a little question and answer thingy that I love reading in Notebook magazine each month.

What, for you, is the essence of December?
For me December marks the winding down of the year. It’s about being together, celebrating the year, and getting ready to welcome the New year, as well as Christmas of course.

What makes December special for you?
I just love Christmas. The tree, the lights, the presents, the joyful mood that everyone is in and getting to spend time with my family. I love that on Christmas day everything {well, almost} is closed so no one can go anywhere, we’re just together.

When was the most memorable December you’ve ever had?
Last year was pretty special because it was Lacey’s first Christmas. We had such a great time, but I think this year will probably be even better.

How will you spend your leisure time in December?
I get a month and a bit off from work over Christmas, and Hubby takes the time off too. We’ll spend it visiting friends and family, and swimming most days. I’m really looking forward to having nothing on my to-do list.

What will you cook in December?
We’re having a very low key Christmas Day this year. We’ll be cooking a BBQ. My job will be to make chocolate pavlova. I’ve done it so many times I can probably do it with my eyes closed.

What does December mean to you?

  1. It's about family time and traditions and creating memories together. I have such fond memories of this time of year when I was growing up.

I'm just like my Mum. She loved making Christmas special for us, and she was like a big kid on Christmas Day. She couldn't wait to give us our pressies. I'm the same. I really try to pick a few things that my kids will really love, and we see friends at church on Xmas eve. Just lovely.

  2. Wow, I'll answer questions a little later, but right now I'm bowled over about the chocolate pavlova, that's my specialty too! Nigella Lawson, heh?

  3. can you post the recipe for your chocolate pavlova please?
I have it somewhere but don't know where. Probably got lost in the move to Austalia and i would like to make it for my famlily over christmas too.

  4. Lol, you write a lovely post about what Christmas means to you and all we girls can talk about is chocolate pavlova! No wonder we need Skinny for Santa!
