USA today

The conference hadn’t even started yet. We were heading to the pre-conference conference called Life Well Lived which was all about living your life well. My kinda thing really. So I dressed and met Sarah in the lobby.

I wore these shoes. All kinds of ouchy by the end of the day.

That’s our hotel/motel {what’s the right term?} on the right. I’m staying in the penthouse. Or not.

When they say ‘sunny’ San Diego, they’re not kidding. It’s around 26 degrees celcius each day. My kinda weather not too hot and not cold either. Not a cloud in the sky.

Let the life well lived begin!

First up we ate breakfast and listened the ever-fab Gretchen Rubin speak. She wrote my favourite book, The Happiness Project. I ate a bagel with peanut butter.

We learnt what our laundry type was. Not the most thrilling session, but somehow they always seem to inject fun into the everyday.

Get your lanyards here!

My new necklace. It’s saying hello. On the other side it says goodbye.

We had a quick break for a hairstyling session as part of the conference. I got mine straightened, Sarah had hers curled. I convinced Sarah {twas easy!} to get eyelashes done with me {not part of the conference}. Fun!

Next stop: Las Vegas cocktail party. I drank 3 of these unstopables. And then I really was unstopable. I turned $300 into $2500 in half an hour. It was play money, but real games. I won a year’s supply of something. I think I was too tipsy to know what it was.

I played one game of craps. I was pretty crap. Roulette is where my talent lies.

This is our lovely friend Lissa. We run into her everywhere we go. She’s super lovely, so it’s a good thing.

We went to the Expo hall and checked out all the stalls and came out armed with bags and bags full of goodies. We then went to a toy party and came out with a bag full of toys. I haven’t even looked in the bags yet. Hubby would be getting anxious reading this, he likes to open things immediately, if not sooner. We then went home for a 10 minute breather {seriously, it’s all we can afford} and then back for a Hawaiian party and another community party. We wore leis and drank cocktails called 1988 {the year I was born, of course}.

Today the serious conference starts. I am going to wear my thongs {flip flops for those playing in the States} because I learnt my lesson yesterday! I’m having a great time. I’m exhausted so will be taking time out today to make time for me like a smart cookie.

Oh, and I’ll share the important blogging type things I’ve learned at the end of the conference. For now it’s just photos and short stories. I hope you don’t mind. xx

You would be staying in a hotel. You do not under any circumstances want to stay in a motel. I can't explain the differences, but they are substantial, and a motel would make me puke. Yours is more like…a condo (condominium) because it looks so fancy, lol. Nice.

And it's so nice there because all the heat has been sucked here, to Texas. Our highs have been in the triple digits- in Celsius, that's somewhere upwards of 40. You probably don't want to visit here any time soon.

Looks like you're having fun 🙂 I'm jealous! I want to go to BlogHer (and I kind of want to escape Texas too). You look excellent! There's no such thing as too much fun, so have a blast.

  3. Loving reading you short posts filled with great pics. I laughed when I read about your hubby wanting to open the bags straight away as mine is the same. All the goodie bags I got at the blogging events I went to last week are sitting in my office and I catch him peeking every so often.
He was very excited when my lenovo arrived too!

All the events sound like sooooo much fun!

  4. Yay, I'm glad you're having so much fun!! When it comes to goody bags I love to wait until I have a moment to myself and then spread everything out on the bed around me. 🙂

  5. Seems like an awesome start to your conference trip!
Loved how you said you were too tipsy to know what you won from the life-supply of!
And I used to live in CA, but can't really remember the weather. But I bet it's great.

  6. Oh my goodness ladies, how much fun are you gals having?? It looks fabulous, love the pics! And I LOVE LOVE LOVE your shoes… it's always the hot ones that make your feet ache… but I bet you felt gorgeous in them! Great post :o) xo

  7. Ok so I just spent about two minutes using my fingers to add up how old you would be if you were born in 1988. That's how bad my maths is. (You weren't really born then at all, you tricker!)

You have supermodel looks, btw. XOX

  8. I can't tell you how fun it was meeting you girls! I've been telling everyone how I witnessed a truly amazing Vegas phenomenon! You're a great little gambler. I hope you're trip was all you hoped, because you really rocked BlogHer 2011!
