Hello.

If you get my newsletter, or follow me on Facebook, you might know that last week we had a loss in my family. My cousin lost his son. He was on a trip overseas and he drowned. It’s shocking and sad and unbelievable.

Death and I, we don’t do well. It makes me question everything. I don’t want to believe that we’re all only here for a short time. I don’t know what happened to me as a kid around death, but for each birthday from about 4 until even now, I’d wish on my birthday candles that everyone would live forever. Aren’t we supposed to be wishing for unicorns and bicycles?

So, I’m going to take a break from here for a few days. I just want to love on my children hard and hug them til they get so sick of me they groan, “Oh mum!”.

The funeral is on Friday and we’ll be wearing bright colours, to honour the short but well-lived life of Justin. If you feel like doing the same, please do.

See you soon,
Chantelle

P.S. The new Photo A Day list will be here on Friday but I’ll be back to normal blogging on Monday. xxx
