The two photography apps I’m kinda addicted to

APPS

If Apps were shoes my two favourites would be well worn, with almost-holes in the soles. You know the shoes that really should be tossed in the garbage, but you just can’t because you’ve worn so much love into them and you think you could just get one more wear out of them? Please tell me you have those shoes?

My two favourite photography apps get used every single day. Every day. I use them for everyone of my photo a day pics, but for every other photo I take on my phone too. So without further ado, let me introduce to you my firm favourites…

ONE: Camera+

Oh, if you’ve been reading this blog you knew that already, didn’t you? I love Camera+. I take every single photo in it. I don’t use the iPhone camera App at all, instead favouring this App for taking photos. I know that it probably has many of the same features as the camera App on my iPhone but I just prefer it. Why do I love it? This is why…
Well, I’ve been using it so long it’s a habit, for one
I like the control I have when taking a photo – I can change the focus, the lighting etc just by clicking the screen
I can shoot a few pics of the same shot and then quickly delete
Usability is very user-friendly. I find it really easy to navigate
It’s got easy editing. I don’t use the filters anymore because I find they’re a bit heavy but I will sometimes use the clarity feature or the miniature filter for some effects
More on Camera+ here.

TWO: Afterlight

I don’t know what I did before this App was released. It’s really beautiful. Here’s why I’m having a love affair with Afterlight…
There are so many filters to choose from
And they’re subtle. If you find they’re not subtle enough, you can turn them down a little more.
It has a pretty font on the opening page. Fickle, aren’t I?
It’s a good looking App. Yep, more fickle than you imagined.
It does pretty much everything – sweet frames, type on photos, instant film effects…
I can tweak my photos perfectly – brightness, contrast, etc etc
More on Afterlight here. And I wrote this about it a while back when it was called Afterglow.

Which photography Apps get used over and over again on your phone? Do tell!

  1. It’s funny, DH is not a man who likes to pay for apps. When I got my iphone, he told me to buy that app. And like you I use it for (almost) all my photography. The only time I use the iphone camera app is for panoramic photos, which Camera+ doesn’t have.

  2. i’ve always used the camera app that came with the phone but i just got camera awesome. i’m stingy and don’t usually pay for paps!!!

  3. My boyfriend favors Snapseed but I’m not so good at it. Too technical I think. I used Camera+ plus for awhile but for now I’m just pretty much on PicTapGo. Then I use ABM or Rhonnadesigns for embellishments.

  4. I LOVE Aviary. The options are great and easy to use, it can add life to the pic. Sometimes I take a pic of something magnificent and the phone doesn’t quite pick up what I Saw in person. Aviary takes care of that.

  5. I am a big lover of Afterlight as well. Every single photo I edit has had something done to it in Afterlight. I am also a MASSIVE fan of the Mextures App. The filters and changes you can make with this app are incredible! I use one of their grit layers over every single one of my photo a day pictures. Actually, I’m so in love with photo editing apps, I’m about to start editing all my photos from a recent holiday on my phone only. Stuff Photoshop. 🙂

  6. I love camera + but have not tried Afterlight I will give it a try,I love a beautiful mess for editing pics, thankyou for your imput x

  7. PicsArt, mostly just for cropping/rotating but also the occasional freestyle collage, and PixIr-o-Matic for the filters, frames/vignettes etc. But definitely going to be looking into Afterlight now!

  8. Ooh I’ll have to try Afterlight! I like A Beautiful Mess and Instacollage too… for something different 🙂

  9. Those are also MY two favourite photo editing apps – I recommend them to everyone! A Beautiful Mess is lovely too for adding font.

  10. I use Camera+ to take all if my pictures as well. I have a few go-to filters in that app that are my worn out shoes. I love that you can now adjust the intensity of the filters and even layer them. I like to use filters to enhance my photos rather than overwhelm them so that new feature made me so happy. I have many other photo apps but I seem to forget about them precisely 5 minutes after downloading them. There is a new app I just got called LVLCam which helps you take photos perfectly straight and level ahead or from above. Pretty handy.

  11. I’m addicted to Snapseed. I love being able to pick a specific area of a pic and change the brightness or contrast in that particular spot. It’s amazing.

  12. I’m using an Android Smartphone and my top two photography apps are Aviary and PicsArt. VSCO and Afterlight are not yet available in the Playstore but I’m still hoping that it will be up soon. What I like about Aviary is the VSCO-ish filters.

  13. Do you all know about Rhonna Designs?! It will change your photography life!!! A wee bit expensive to begin with… but the chalk and text overlays, frames and Design packs she has on her app are incredible!! She is one talented lady!!
