Staycation.

T

here’s something oddly alluring about packing a bag, travelling just twenty minutes from home and having a staycation.

I called my Lil Sis earlier in the week and asked her what she thought about having a night in the City, just the girls. As with everything she does, she jumped at the idea with child-like enthusiasm. We booked a room and invited Big Sis {who couldn’t join us due to work} and Ma. Hubby was busy all weekend so it would be nice to be a little bit busy too.

We let valet take care of the car and our bags, and we checked in alongside celebrities and people in tuxedos. We laughed out how under dressed we felt, but how we could have cared less.
The weather was miserable. It had rained all week, allowing a few sunny periods, and continued to rain all weekend. We still wanted to explore though. We walked the streets in search of a delicious dinner {we all had Thai on our minds}.

We always struggle to to think of place to dine in the City. We do it every time. We look at the room service and decide we could do better with our money elsewhere. That somewhere elsewhere is always quite difficult to find.

After an hour of walking through puddles, and bumping into busy, bustling people we stumbled across an old favourite, Chinta Ria. We rubbed buddha bellies, smelt incense and slurped noodles.

We then caught the monorail back to our hotel, where we cuddled up in our warm bed and fell asleep whilst watching movies. It was the perfect weekend.
Do you ever have indulge in staycations?

  1. Wasn't the weather miserable in Sydney on the weekend! Mind you, at least it didn't have the icy chill that Canberra has, so I could walk around without a coat. Feet were sopping wet though! Wearing the converse shoes was not the best idea.

It still amazed me how many people were in the city despite the rain. In Canberra, if it's raining, people stay home! As much as I love visiting, I enjoy the space Canberra affords. There are people people people EVERYWHERE in Sydney! I'm not used to it.

  2. Which hotel??

We stayed at the Hilton the other weekend. Loved it!

Am thinking of a weekend in the blue mountains this weekend {maybe} as the boyfriend has 3 days off 🙂

  3. This sounds like the perfect girly weekend! My friends and I have always toyed with the idea of booking a hotel room for a night but it never ever happens! Glad you still had a great time despite the yucky weather xx

  4. Staycations are great. We've even accomplished a relaxing, fun filled holiday without leaving the homestead. So glad you enjoyed your 'city break'. Love the photos. Rain is so photogenic, I wish it had rained on my wedding day.

  5. I've day dreamed several times of arranging for the perfect staycation, but it sounds like doing it on a whim is the best way! How inspiring, I shall definitely have to try it out before the end of the year.

  6. My goodness! What a spoil! It doesn't matter how far I travel from home, all it takes is to slip between the hotel sheets and I immediately unwind and feel all shiny and new…x

  7. I love the idea of a staycation but my husband just isn't into it – staying so close to home. I will have to try a girly one instead. Great idea!! Sounds like a LOVELY weekend and I do love Thai food. YUM!

Love the photos as usual. Lou.

  8. What a gorgeous way to spend the weekend. Sounds perfect. Staycations should be made mandatory!!!! Cassie x

  9. Love staycations but haven't had one for a while (something to do with having a 3 year old and 7 month old!).
We are only 10 mins from the city but I would love nothing more than to book a room for a weekend, go shopping, order some room service and enjoy some peace and quiet.
Sounds like you had a lovely weekend. I am feeling a little envious right now 😉
