Six Ways To Add A Little Happy To Your Life.

1. Self Date.

It’s as simple as pulling out your diary, setting a date and making time out for you. Do something you love, or just grab a coffee alone {without a little person threatening to knock it over or eat up your energy}. Commit to this date like you would with any other very important date, and don’t cancel on yourself. You’re worth it. Enjoy your date.

2. Call An Old Friend.
Call that person that knows you. They know you before the now, before things got complicated. They know your first loves, your secrets, your favourites, your un-favourites {I know that’s not a word}. They’ve heard you sing in the car, you’ve sung together loudly. She knows the huge crush you had on Rick Astley in 1987. She knows you, and talking to her makes everything a little bit sunnier.
3. Say No.
It’s not a crime to say no every now and again {or a little more if you’re letting people walk all over you}. I know it seems like the world will end if you don’t agree to do everything you’re asked, but I can tell you now… the world will go on. And it will be okay. And you’ll be even better because of it.

4. Buy Fresh Flowers.
Go to the markets and buy a few bunches. Put them in places so that they remind of their beauty every time you turn your head. Put them in your bedroom, in the bathroom, in the dining room and even a little bunch on the windowsill in the kitchen.
5. Have An Early Night.
Once in a blue moon go to bed really early, at the same time you did as a kid. You’re body and mind will thank you for it, and you’ll wake feeling rejuvenated and a little more alive.
6. Love Life.
Loving life isn’t a matter of circumstance, it’s your choice. It you don’t have a love affair with your life right now, don’t be afraid to change it. Little by little {or lots by lots} love life. It’s a beautiful way to live.
What do you do to make your life a little happier?

  1. What a sweet, beautiful post Chantelle! I can't wait to plan my next self date.

And congratulations to your little one on her 2nd birthday!

    XOXO

P.S. I purged my Twitter today and stopped following any accounts that didn't make me feel happy or relaxed and I'm proud to say that you are absolutely one that I chose to KEEP following! Thank you for the sweet spirited influence that you are to all of us, even continents away 🙂

  2. Ah Chantelle, you have no idea how much this resonates with me. Orm indeed, how much I love to read your blog with my coffee in the morning. Thank you!

  3. AND, if I may add one, let go of petty things… if someone has slighted you or been rude, who cares? just move in and stop thining about it… it doens't matter… we are all allowed to have bad days sometimes too.

  4. Great reminders. I love flowers. I love self dates but am not so good at them at the moment. I am getting much better at saying no now as well. Have a happy day everyone. Lou.

  5. how lovely – sometimes we forget about ourselves and it really doesn't take much to boost your sprits. Just need to be reminded in our busy lives to take the time and just “be”.

  6. I make my life happy by: keeping things simple, choosing to see the positive in everything, making time for my family and enjoying my coffee in the morning!

  7. This is so good Chantelle!

I've never heard of a 'self-date' before, but it sounds like a great idea. 🙂 I shall have to try it some time soon!

  8. Thanks for this Chantelle. Fresh flowers are so uplifting aren't they.

Please let us all remember these things, it's so important to add happiness to our own and others lives but it's so so so easy to forget.

    xx
