  1. I saw it on the weekend and loved it, cheese and all 😉 I totally agree with the eye rolling, I did it a few times, funnily enough mostly when SJP wore the outfit you loved! Actually I rolled my eyes at most of the outfits, except the orange pleated number she wore on the beach {sigh}. Love that you pointed out Nannys do wear bras 😉 PS What about Mirandas hair in the flashback????

  2. I totally agree, I was waiting for something new and exciting to happen. I think they tried to cover up the lack of storyline with plenty of over the top fashion, beautiful scenery etc. But we ladies aren't fooled by that! I expected more, to be honest.

PS- Damn straight, us nannies DO wear bras. No jiggly bits here. xx

  3. I too saw it and love bits of the movie but overall felt a little let down on the plot and other components. I hated that outfit in the scene where she sees Aiden. Mostly the outfits were shocking not the awesomeness of the previous movie and series. I'll stick to watching re-runs of the series on PAY TV!

  4. I saw it on Saturday night and while I loved parts of it, I don't think it had the emotional range of the first one! Yes definitely cheesey moments – ie karaoke??!! It could have gone so much further into a couple of areas! Sex and the City – uh we thought it should be call Abstinence in Abu Dhabi!

But oh my god how much has Aiden improved with age!! Yum Yum!

  5. I went and saw it the other day, I wasn't expecting much, but wanted a girly day out, so off I trotted, with low expectations… and was still disappointed.

It's lost it's spark, the substance amongst the glitz the series was famous for (and I loved the series). It just seemed shallow, vapid, self-absorbed and the cultural cringe factor was too high for me to be comfortable.

I read in an interview how this movie was meant to represent the difficulties everyone is facing in the Global Economic Crisis – umm, where? The only nod to that I could see was Carrie wearing a dress we recognised from the series. I don't beleive a movie should have to be reality, but if you tout it as doing one thing, then have a bunch of rich, pampered women jetting off to a $22,000 a night suite to complain about their imaginary problems, you might be off the mark.

  6. i agree with everything you said… was so looking forward to it and enjoyed every moment of being out with some amazing and inspiring photography friends… but it was so predictable and cheesy and not nearly as pleasing as i had hoped!

i didnt love the clothes as much as i usually do either – i loved the number she wore to the market from your post and spent a good 10 mins wondering if i could pull something like that off (clearly the answer is no!) – it left me thinking that just cause its designer doesnt make it great!

wish i was in sydney so i could have gone with you x

  7. The cheese in the movie was beyond crazy…
I SO want Carrie to have a baby : (

I had the best time with my girlfriends. It was a fun night out and I can't complain! I would go again if there was another just because of the history but not because I would be expecting something stellar : )

  8. Totall agree with you, felt really embarassed at the karaoke, and the bra less scenes – actually had to turn away for those. Were they really needed ? Lots of unwanted fluff and cringed at some of the bad acting but hey, was a bit of escapism for a few hours (maybe a bit too long there)Wont be rushing to buy the dvd…

  9. I went to see it yesterday with a friend, and I agree with everything you said. It was light, fluffy entertainment.
One of the best things about the series was being able to relate to the characters – there was a little piece of Carrie in all of us. But now, no. They all seem like pampered princesses, the only one who seems 'real' now is Miranda. I did some mental yelling of YES when watching the scene where Miranda and Charlotte were talking, that was the only part I related to.
But, for a few hours of light entertainment it was good.

  10. Yes, there WERE a lot of cheesy parts… BUT, it was still a dose of the glitzy Sex and the City we all love!! I for one thought the vacation went on a bit too long and wish they were in New York more, but all in all, a fabulous movie and I hope there will be lots more!!

  11. I know I'm going to get blasted for saying this, but they are all just too old for the clothes these days. NO amount of razzle or dazzle or botox can hide the fact that they look like mutton.

And cultural cringe galore – the disrespect in a middle eastern country made me gasp.

I wish they would all just wake up to themselves. All except Aidan who is like a fine red wine (of course, John Corbett likes the older ladees).

    That's how I felt.

  12. yep describes exactly how i felt… totally agree with fave outfit!
and the nannies wear bra comment, i swear 90% of movies/tv shows with nannies in them portray them as hotties out to tempt and/or steal husbands… actually now i think about it the whole nanny storyline slightly offended me!
    xx

  13. I kept thinking something was going to happen… like with the passport… or with Aiden, or with the Nanny… it was kinda strange that it was all just smooth sailing.

Nevertheless – I enjoyed it – I love SATC and it would have to be a MEGA flop for me to not enjoy.

  14. I liked the movie but I certainly didn't “Love” it like the first one. Way too many corny lines and I thought the Karaoke scene was really lame! Sorry to those who loved it but I won't be getting it out on DVD. Was still worth having a few hours off and catching up with friends though. Christine xo

  15. like you, i loved actually having the time out and physically going to the movies fullstop. i liked seeing the movie, thought wtf at the red get up samantha wore in one scene (seriously, is that fashion forward?), and just in general loved seeing the fashion. i also think if it weren't for some of samantha gestures there wouldn't have been as many laughs! xx

  16. Like you, a trip to the movies sans kids, is all about the escape, not the movie so much.

Great if it's funny and fantastic, but as long as I've got twisties and coke, I'm a happy girl.

Am off to see it tonight with my girlfriend. Dinner, movies, long chat about crap before we say our goodbyes – bliss x

  17. I saw it last week and cos I was expecting so little was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed it because it was a little silly. The clothes were massively over the top and what is with Carrie getting around in those gorgeous dresses as nightwear and heels around the house? I thought the hats silly BUT I still loved it cos it was like catching up with some old friends. I too wouldn't be disappointed if they didn't make another as I feel we have the answers now to where they are at. Pfft to the way they treated the women in burkas but man, the opulence of the hotel was insanity and I rather liked living vicariously through them. I loved the market outfit above and would totally wear it – just gotta find somewhere to wear it first! 🙂

  18. Maybe only lesbian Nannies forget to wear bras 😉

I saw the movie on the weekend too and was prepared for the worst given all the horrible reviews I had read. I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would but totally agree that it was full of cheese.

  19. I haven't seen it yet, but my friend Jen and I are planning a trip to the theatre next week to see it. I haven't heard any good reviews yet – but really, I'm just there to see all the clothes on the big screen and to get out for a night out with a pal! That'll be worth it. I hope!

  20. I had never seen a Sex & The City episode or movie until last Thursday night. Could never understand the hype! I ignored the bad reviews and actually had a great night… probably because I went expecting little. Only a fraction of the fashion was to my liking, however those that were, were fabulous! Those ladies are in great shape… which always helps.

I found myself laughing hysterically when they were checking out though!

  21. Great film, better than the first for me but then this one had relevant storylines for me and where I am in life.

Oh and to the commentator who said she wants Carrie to have a baby….she never will, it's not who she is nor who Big is, they will never be parents….and that's just fine…You and Me. Just Us Two.

  22. you've voiced my opinion perfectly Chantelle!! I was so sad that they ended up where they did… boring! lets hope they dont dare even think of making a third one!!
