Point & Shoot: The Hungry Monster.

I

had so much to do this weekend. I’m still up to my ears in laundry {dirty & clean}. As well a bit of sorting and cleaning around the place. Lacey didn’t want to leave my side, and with Hubby on night shift {meaning he’s away at night, sleeping during the day} I had no choice but to let her cling to me as she desired.

She has an insatiable appetite at the moment too. I’m not sure if it’s because she ate nothing for a week {with being ill} and is making up for lost time, or if it’s a toddler thing. Do any toddler parents have any insights?
Honestly, she eats more than I do… and that’s saying something. Eggs for breakfast, and then more toast, avocado, strawberries, grapes, sandwiches, noodles… and that’s only in the morning. I sit down to relax and she’s asking for more, more, more! I tried to distract her with some painting, but that lasted a whole 3.6 minutes.
I’ve got a busy week this week {school holidays}, but I’ll be around at night to look at your pictures {from Point & Shoot}, read your comments and look at your blogs {if you have one, if not tsk tsk}.
Have a lovely week, and I’ll see you guys around. In fact, I’ll be back this afternoon with something a little bit different. x

  1. The hunger thing….my kids always seemed to go through seemingly huge amounts of food after being crook…then it returns to normal after a day or two……it seems to be their perfect famine reaction kicking in…

  2. great photo!!

my girls are 27 months and while madi eats pretty much a good amount every meal every day, elly will eat very little for a couple of days and then eat like a horse the next… like yesterday she had an egg and 3/4 of a large tin of beans, 1/2 piece of toast and a piece of bacon for brekky, then a snack, then 1 1/2 sandwiches for lunch, then fruit, then 2 medium bowls of brown rice and veges for dinner…. i don't know where she puts it???

  3. If huge eating is teamed with feral behaviour out comes the combantrim lol, but otherwise just go with it. T tends to eat more in the first half of the day and not much later unless she decides dinner is yummy.

Night shift, don't you love it….. I prefer it to afternoon shift as it means hubby is home for bedtime and I love the days off that follow (after a week of it). But I hate that it means we miss out on doing many things with friends/family 'as a family'. Can u believe after 10+ years we still have to remind some people that we need alot of notice about special occasions to ensure hubby can make it.

  4. Oh the never ending joy of washing 🙂 Just as I get on top of it all….it all appears again lol! Glad to hear Lacey is back to good health. As for the eating…just go with it! Ella can be quite fussy when it comes to food….but she can go with weeks with hardly eating and then out of the blue she eats anything & everything in sight!! Can't work her out…no consistency at all lol. But she much prefers to snack regularly then have 3 big meals!
Great photo of the artist at work 🙂
    Have a great week.

  5. I'm also drowning in washing – winter laundry is hell on earth!

The food thing: I'm a big believer in letting little/ big appetites work as they may. She will be stocking up on food after her mini-famine and as long as it's the good stuff, go with it. Amazing how a 'natural' appetite works, huh?

My highlight on the weekend was brunch followed by a Capper's friend over to play. Good times.

Intrigued by what you are planning…

  6. Sounds like it could be a growth spurt to me. Toddlers do lots of growing. Check her jeans in a week and see if there's a gap. There usually is when they're eating like that. x

  7. Definitely normal! It's amazing how much they can put away, isn't it? Then sometimes you wonder how on earth they get through the day when they barely touch a thing. It's a great mystery!

  8. My toddler niece has a never ending appetite, eating lots of the same things that Lacey seems to like. That's my only insight – from where I sit it's very normal!
I think they're on the move so much that they need more energy than us mere mortals.
