turned up to work on Friday prepared for a busy day, and was told I could have half a day off. It took me a while to take it in. After a few muttering a few times, ‘Are you sure?’ I finally got my head around it.
We decided to head down the coast and visit my brother and sister, who are always heading up to Sydney to see us. I grew up on the South Coast so heading back to a place I used to call home is quite comforting. It’s nice to drive past places that trigger memories: the place where I had my first job, the place a friend got married, as well as the best ice-creamery around.
It was so relaxing to be away from it all. To pack up and leave the busy pace of normal life behind. Lacey had a blast as well. When night fell she looked up into the sky amazed to see all the stars in the clear sky she joyfully shouted, ‘Twinkle, twinkle!’
So it goes without saying that I had a beautiful weekend, made even better by being spoilt on Mother’s Day.
