Operation: Fat Mum Slim.

I

‘m writing this on Saturday night. Hubby is at work. Lacey is asleep on the couch next to me. The people upstairs are partying like it’s 1999. I’m watching trashy TV {High School Reunion, love it}.

I’ve been soooooo good all week {that’s right, I rate my efforts – this week was worthy of a gold star, or two}. I ate well. Exercised a little. Kept on track. I weighed-in before breakfast and I had lost a grand sum of 4kg. That’s huge. A great loss.

Part of me is so proud, but there is a little voice inside saying: you could have done better. Oh well, there will always be part of me that’s a little unsatisfied.

I’ve not had chocolate all week and I was hanging out until Sunday to have a little slice of heaven. I thought that now was the perfect time. Trashy TV and chocolate cake goes perfectly together. So I warmed up a piece of cake I’d been saving and a spoonful of icecream. Completely indulgent.

And since I have eaten chocolate in what feels like forever I struggled to eat my cake. But I still ate it. I didn’t even enjoy it.

Isn’t it funny how much of it is in your head? I thought about that cake all week. Knowing I would ‘reward’ myself with it on the weekend. Pfft, cake. You’re not worthy.

How was your week? Are you proud of your efforts? What’s that little voice inside saying to you?

  1. Let's just say I could've done much worse! Being away all week made it hard to keep track of points, so I just did my best and only had a minor slip up or two. Overall though, I did ok. I refrained from some yummy cakes, chocolates and lollies, which was a pretty big effort from me!

  2. 4kgs!!! That's amazing!! Well done!!
I didn't lose any weight this week, but I'm not worried about it as I know why.
I did work my butt off excerising. I walked 6.5km every day as well as jogging/walking for 30mins every second morning. I also did yoga four times. This week I'm hoping to keep up with the same excerise routine, complete a healthy detox and lose a few kilos (four would be amazing)
    Love hannah

  3. 4kg is awesome! Congratulations!!!

I haven't weighed in yet, but am not expecting good results. Had my wisdom teeth out this week so have had mashed potato, jelly, icecream, lemonade, banana smoothies (all good but for the honey!) through the week. Ongoing pain from an ULCER (of all things!) has meant exercise has been minimal as I've just wanted to crawl into a ball and cry. We'll see on Wednesday.

  4. Hey, nice work!

My efforts to get to bed earlier could have been better. I am torn between thinking I can do it, and giving up because, as the little voice says, once a night owl, always a night owl…

  5. Ooh, I thought I was the only person who watched High School Reunion! Haha!
Bit disappointed as I didn't lose anything, even after walking for an hour every day and cutting out chocolate. Hopefully next week will be better.

  6. Hiya – well I am not dieting, but I want to. I have an evil battle with sugar. I am breastfeeding too (poor son!!) so I think I am not gaining as much weight as I would be, if i were not breastfeeding.. but really really want to quit the sugar. Chocolate, biscuits etc… the evil voice in my head says “eat it, eat it eat it” the evil voice sabotages my desire to be a healthy mama!!!! I'll get there. Love your blog.
ps – I am a keen candidate for one of your 'interviews” if you still do them?

  7. 4 kgs is a wonderful!!! Good work… I need to get back into the healthy way again…

Oh crap… I have yummy biscuits in the oven… hahahhahaa I'll start tomorrow 😛

  8. I LOVE High School Reunion! How juicy is it? It reminds me a lot of school and they're my age too.

I had a gain this week. Don't know why so I'm going to give up alcohol for a month (having a reprieve on the long weekend though) and seeing if that works for me.

Well done Telle on the loss x

  9. So here I am going…4kgx2.2=8.8lbs…and oh my goodness…that's amazing!!! You almost lost 10 pounds in one week! That's fabulous! I had a Dr. Pepper the other day and unfortunately I thought it tasted just as wonderfull as ever.

  10. I'm always dissatisfied with my efforts, believing that I can (and will) do better next week.

It may seem harsh to some, but I know that I've got some making up for all those times in the past when I wasn't even concerned with doing well, much less better.

As far as I'm concerned, I've got some lost time to make up for.

  11. Congratulations! 🙂 I've been yo-yoing for so long that I've done so well this past week but I won't take my word for it until the week 2 mark. It takes 2 weeks to finally stay on the path & continue to a great weight loss success.

It's so easy to talk to talk myself out of eating something bad because we don't even have junk food in the house. I'd have to go to the store and in that time frame there's a lot of time to convince myself I don't need it.

  12. @Jessica: I hope it wasn't too stressful with traveling and the funeral. x

@Hannah: Good luck this week. You're on fire with your exercising. x

@Alycia: Ouch! I hope you're feeling better now and moving on to solids! x

@Swish and Swanky: Thank you. x

@Iris: Ha ha. I think it's nice being up late, but only change my mind when it hits morning not enough sleep was had. I kinda agree. Once a night owl. Always a night owl. x

@Rhi: Maybe your body takes a week to register the weightloss? Hopefully you'll do well this week. Good on you for all the exercising. What an effort! x

    @Katy: A loss is a loss! Congratulations. x

@Sharnigans: Congratulations on your baby. 🙂 I still do the interviews. Pop me an email and I'll send you some questions. x

@Leesa: Oooh yummy. I bet they smelt delicious.

@Lilli: Shane is the same age too (well, we were trying to figure it out and we think they are) and he's really into it too. How good is it? SO trashy. Good luck this week. x

@Rhi: Chin up. And good luck. x

@Ronnie: Ooh I love you. My voice of reason and reality! Thank you. I will admit that I am back on diet coke. Naughty me! I kinda needed something though. Will I ever change. x

@FollowMeDown30: It must be in our heads. We think we will enjoy it. I am trying to think what I want for my treat this weekend, but I'm struggling to think of something that I will enjoy. It's a big bowl of strawberries at this stage. (I don't eat fruit during the week).

@Jack: So true! SO true! Thanks for popping over and letting me know that we're in the same boat. x

@Steph Anne: That's great. And I think so true too. I always falter on the 2nd week. I am doing really well so far though. I don't plan on wrecking this one. x

  13. A huge CONGRATS on the 4 kgs!! Thats awesome! 🙂
What you said about the chocolate and not enjoying it….I so know where you are coming from. It's been pouring rain here in Vic and I thought id snuggle up with a hot chocolate. But after I made it, I couldnt bring myself to drink it all! I had a few sipps and dumped the rest, lol!

    xx

  14. Too true about cake (or chocolate etc)… you think about it for ages and then it's oh was that it?

4kg is awesome – don't let that little voice in your head tell you any different!

Well, still staying away from the scales but I've definitely been feeling healthier as I've been back to a few gym classes – and even did a spin one for the first time (it was a little scary!)

Also wanted to say a big thank you – as your operation has been on my brain and I've been thinking about being healthier etc – I finally got my ass in gear to see a nutritionist to help with my food intolerances.

So that's 4kg lost – and a person on the other side of the world feeling much brighter about her eating future! 😀

  15. way to go! I did have a diet coke the other day and sadly it was glorious, but have not had any choc which is good. I am down 1.8 so far which I had hoped to bee more but I will up the exercise this week and see how I go! congrats and keep going, maybe make your reward next week a manicure/pedicure instead if choc cake was a let down?? :-))Tina
