On The Run.

Any time of day is chaotic for most Mamas. I find mornings are especially hectic for me. I have to shower, dress, get Lacey dressed, feed Lacey, pack our bags and get out the door by 7am.

Eating breakfast can sometimes be the last thing on my mind. Quite often I get in the car and realise that my tummy is still empty, and feeling a little neglected.

Marci Lall has kindly helped me, and every other busy Mama, out with some really good ideas on what to eat on the run for breakfast and keep on track health wise.

Have a look at the clip below. See how cool Fat Mum Slim and Chantelle sound with a Canadian accent. (I need to get out more!)

You probably already know this first hand but being a mom you have so many
responsibilities – preparing meals, carpooling, cleaning, the list is endless!

But being super busy doesn’t mean that you cant start your day off with a decent and nutritious meal to give your body some well needed energy. So I’ve made a list with the 8 breakfast foods that you can grab while on the go.

1. Yogurt
You should keep your fridge well stocked. Because of its portable packaging its easy to grab on your way out the door. You can also add a bit of cereal for a little morning crunch

2. Banana
This is a great breakfast fruit and if you’re in a rush make sure you grab an extra large one with a nice glass of skim milk.

3. Smoothies
Whip together fruit juice, ice, yogurt and frozen fruit and in a matter o seconds you’ve got a powerful breakfast that you can drink!

4. Trail Mix
Perfect assortment of nuts and dried fruit. You can easily make a large amount and then package them in smaller zip lock bags so you can easily put ’em in your purse or bag and much on them on your way to work.

5. Bran Muffins
If you’re going to stop by the local coffee shop make sure you grab yourself a bran muffin for the extra fibre. and if you want to give yourself a bit of a treat spread some blueberry or raspberry jam on it.

6. Bagel
Spread it with some natural peanut butter and then wash it down with some skim milk or orange juice.

7. Hard Boiled Eggs
Boil them the night before so you can have them on hand instantly the next morning. That’s being efficient at its best.

8. Pita Bread
You can stuff it with low fat cheese, cottage cheese, hummus, sliced turkey or any other handy fillings you can find.

So there you have it 8 simple and easy breakfast foods you
can grab while on the go!

If you have any question or comments just leave them below and I’ll be more
than happy to help you out.

Also I just wanted to thank Chantelle for having me on her blog as a
special guest. I really appreciate it and thank you once again.

Thank YOU Marci. There are some great tips there. Thanks for taking the time to help me, and many others out. x

  1. When I was working I used to make some banana bran muffins with brown sugar instead of white. Yum. Another thing you can make for you and lacey is wholemeal pikelets in bulk. chuck them in ziplock bags in the freezer in lots and pull out and put in microwave for one minute – you and lacey can eat on the go then.

  2. @Liss – Awesome ideas thanks for sharing. I think any fruit with bran muffins taste awesome – blueberry, raspberry, raisins – they’re such a flexible food.

@Chantelle – Thanks so much for having me on it was truly a pleasure and I hope your readers enjoy the little video 😀
