Our dishwasher died last weekend and we had to buy a new one. It wasn’t a fun purchase, but it needed to be done. For the record, we went with one with the cutlery drawer. Not sure what I think about it, to be honest.
As I waited at the checkout with the salesman we did our best attempt at small talk. He told me about how his kid cracked his head open, and I think the bags under my eyes told their own story… I was tired.
“Parenting is hard, isn’t it?” I asked him, or told him.
He nodded. “You know, I’m not sure I’d do it if I knew just how hard it is,” he revealed.
It is hard, but it’s also so rewarding. In those really hard moments it can feel impossible. But then it’s those really beautiful moments, that it seems all worth it and more. My favourite part of the day is when Lulu wakes up in the morning and she just smothers me in kisses when I pick her up. It’s just so special, and I know she won’t be doing it when she’s 10 or 12 or 15. It’s fleeting and wonderful.
