My 5 rules for living the best life & a Peeptoe Shoes giveaway

When I was asked recently by the fun people at Appletiser if I’d like to share my rules for life, I kinda stalled a little and thought I didn’t have any ‘rules’ that I live my life by. I’ve never been a person to live on routine, but I’ve never been a rule-breaker either. I’m a good apple, from way back. Teacher’s Pet even. But after much thought, I realised we all do have some sort of unwritten rules we live life by. Do you agree?

You can see on the Appletiser Facebook page that they’ve been sharing their own sweet rules like, ‘Men are like buses, the right one turns up eventually’. They’re also asking bloggers and blog-readers what rules they like to live their life by. If you’re on Instagram you can check them out by searching the hashtag #appletisersparkle. {Feel free to share your own photos too}.

The first rule that came to mind what this one: If it doesn’t feel good, don’t do it. This is all about gut instinct. I find it hard to tune in sometimes and figure out what on earth my instinct is trying to tell me – but when I do and can – it’s always right.

Only a photo-taking addict could say this, right? If it looks good, snap it. I don’t mean snap the flower off, I mean take a photo. Nanna wouldn’t like flower stealers.

My bestie once said to me many years ago {she’s a chef} that life is too short for leftovers {personally I think leftovers are yummy}. Life is too short not to eat yummy food. Of course in moderation. I go by the rule that just a few mouthfuls of something delicious never hurt anyone. Thankfully I love my good food too, to even it all out.

Photobucket

If you love someone, show it. Simple. Tell them. Show them. Write them notes. Give them cuddles. Smile at them. Tell them, “Hey, I appreciate you!”

Photobucket

If you want something, find a way to get it. I mean really want something. I really wanted to work from home. I found a way to make it happen. And then I wanted to blog full-time, so I found a way to make it happen. Sometimes I want tangible things that are out of my budget. I save for them. Soon enough you figure out what you really want {and which things are just too much effort or money!}. It’s not always easy {actually I find it’s never easy} but it always seems to be worth it.

Good shoes will get you everywhere. Ok, this isn’t a rule. It’s actually a giveaway. One lucky person is going to win a $200 Peeptoe Shoes voucher. To be in the running all you have to do is leave a comment below answering the following question: What are the rules you live life by?

This is a sponsored post for Appletiser. We were sent an Appletiser hamper with sparkles, cupcakes and Appletiser as well. Appletiser has no artificial flavours, colours and no preservatives {and is rather delicious}. Find out more here. To read more about sponsored posts, check out my disclosure policy.

  1. I’m gonna live my life to the fullest each day as if its my last..that means having clean underwear on as well..so that when they undress you to do your autopsy..they don’t have anything nasty to say about you! #jussayin

  2. “If you don’t ask, you don’t get,” and “Remember that everyone is doing the best they can,” are two of my favorites.

  3. The rules I try to live by are;
    “Live life to the fullest”
    “Don’t look back and regret”
    “Learn from the past”
“Live in the today and try not to worry about yesterday or tomorrow”

  4. Rules:

    “Excellence”
-Live excellent in every way. Go above and beyond being average.

    “Wherever you are, Be there.”
-Be where you are. You are there for a reason, and if you are supposed to be somewhere else, get there. But don’t waste your days wishing you were someplace else.

    “Feelings are the F word”
-Don’t just live life based on the way you feel. Live smart, stay focused on what matters.

  5. Listen to your conscience – it always knows best.

Smile when answering the phone – the person on the other end will always hear it in your voice.

  6. What a great giveaway!
I started this rule last year and basically it is: In ____ years, will you be proud of yourself? It has led me well the past few months and when I look back at the goals I made at the beginning of the year, I accomplished all things on that list with that thought it mind.

  7. Totally corny, but it all comes down to this: if you wouldn’t tell your parents about it, or you think they wouldn’t be proud of it, don’t do it. (With a few exceptions for bedroom activities…)
Love your love rule. Love love love it. Thanks for hosting the giveaway.

  8. To wake with excitement and know what I wanted to accomplish daily! To laugh louder, dance longer and live more extraordinarily than the day before!

  9. Love these.
Don’t judge others, try to be understanding and patient, as you never know what the other person is battling, treat others as you want to be treated, if you don’t have something nice to say then say nothing!

  10. Always find something positive in your day (even a bad one!)
Delight in the simple pleasures of life.
Wake up, Go forth & Be Awesome!!
And all that you said as well 🙂
    Thanks for this giveaway.

  16. My rule for living is something my grandma always told me:
“As a rule, a man’s a fool. When it’s hot, he wants it cool. When it’s cool he wants it hot. Always wanting what it’s not.”

I will always try to be grateful for what is, and not stress over what isn’t. (But I’ll also remember that if I do want what isn’t, I’m in pretty damn good company!) 😉

  17. 1. Smile for no reason! A smile is a free gift you can give to friends and strangers 🙂

    2. Be on time. Punctuality is a sign of respect; it shows the other person you recognize their time is valuable and precious.

    3. Don’t wait for the “right/perfect time” to do something important to you. If it’s important, make time to do it now.

    4. Give thanks every day, no matter how small or silly it seems. Gratitude keeps you focused on the blessings and good in your life.

    5. Show your family you love them every day. A kiss, a hug, a note, a sweet treat, a special dinner, or holding hands on the couch. Time can never be regained; use it wisely!

  18. Never leave anything unsaid….my father is in the final stages of cancer so never has this sentiment meant so much to me.

  19. Have realistic expectations, use the good china everyday, don’t try to control anyone’s actions but your own, don’t stress about things you can’t change, rely on only yourself for your own happiness

    5. Give more than you think you can and you will get more than you ever expected.

  22. 1. I treat others as I wish to be treated.
    2. I love and love being loved.

    3. Value each day with the ones nearest and dearest to me.
    4. Trust my instincts, do what feels right.
    5. Focus on the positives.

  23. *If you see something you like, buy it, cos when you need it, you wont find it.

*Live by your own good values and trust them because those who matter dont mind and those who mind dont matter.

*the karma bus will come by so walk away from pettiness, you are better than that.

*try and look at the big picture when your kids are pressing all the wrong buttons and you are losing your cool. What would you do if they werent there one day? Tell them off and then Cuddle them always!

*When you are pregnant and people say eat for two – remember one of you is basically the size of a peach for half your pregnancy. Eat wisely.

    xxxxx

  24. 1. Have an open mind…just not too open, otherwise my brain could fall out.
    2. Be open and honest with others but most importantly with myself.
    3. Always remember, I am entitled to have an opinion, but it says more about me than it does about anything or anyone else.
    4. A pair of shoes has the potential to change my life…look what they did for Cinderella.
    5. Make the most of every moment, because those moments quickly fade to mere memories.
    6. It’s cliche but love with all my heart. If I have no worldly possessions in the world but I have love, then I am the richest woman in the world.

  25. THINK- POSITIVELY
    EXERCISE – DAILY
    EAT – HEALTHY
    WORK – HARD
    STAY – STRONG
    WORRY – LESS
    DANCE – MORE
    LOVE – OFTEN
    BE HAPPY

  26. Love. I believe that when you fill your heart with genuine unconditional love, everything else will fall into place. Your attitude, your actions and reactions, your needs and desires, your friends, how outside people treat you, where you go and where you end up. Unconditional Love. Always.

  27. Share as much as possible. Praise when it is deserved. Rejoice in everything beautiful. Be amazed whenever you can. Remember we are privileged. A hug is one of lifes constant joys.

    * Never leave things unsaid, you might not get another change to say it
    * Treat others with respect, even if you disagree
    * Work for your goals, nothing comes for free

  30. Treat people how you would like to be treated. Look after your body, it’s the only one you have. Love lots. Dance often. Make good food and music a priority, not a luxury. Have fun whenever and wherever possible 🙂

  31. If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. You can only do what you can do. Don’t sweat the small stuff. Expect more.

  32. Try to make a difference in someone’s life – it does not matter if you do not know the person.

Be a good listener – sometimes, all a person needs is to be heard.

My time is too valuable to deal with, “toxicity,” in relationships.

Treat people with respect – this includes being honest with them. If someone’s butt is too big for that skirt, tell them that it is the wrong style for their figure – it beats being heckled at a nightclub.

If you have a great time at a party, let the host/hostess know about it – good manners never goes out of fashion.

Sometimes, it feels great to get out of my comfort zone – learn a new skill, re-education, and open your mind to new experiences and challenges. Changing oneself has to start from changing how you think.

Be good to yourself – including looking after your body.

Set goals at the beginning of the year, focus on how to achieve these goals, and check their progression on a monthly basis.

  33. trust my instincts / do at least one thing every day to make someone else smile / find a bit of sun and enjoy it / praise my children / try not to beat myself up about all the little things

  34. I’m not really a rules kind of girl, but there are two rules I do live by.

    – Don’t hold in farts. They travel up your spine and into your brain – and that’s where shitty ideas come from!

    – If the kids are crabby put them in water.

  35. Wellness in spirit, body and mind,
Best rules to live by, include all three combined
Laughing out loud, loving a lot
Be grateful for the things I’ve got!

  36. one from my dad – the definition of insanity..doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result…Rule to live by is simply – go with the flow, life doesn’t often turn out how we “plan” so you have to make adjustments along the way.

  37. Be honest, laugh – LOTS, love those who love you, because they are the ones that mean the most and take massive pleasure in the small things, because those small things may just grow into big things

  38. “Do today what others won’t, so you can be tomorrow what others can’t”.
I don’t remember where I read this, or who said it, but it’s how I try to live… Especially when my procrastination brain tries to take over!

  39. 1. Don’t sweat the small stuff!! Life is too short to worry about things that just don’t matter!!
    2. Seriously do not worry about what other people think! A big one for me, I am 37 years old and have just realised that if I am happy and feel happy then that is all that counts!
    3. Be happy in your own skin! Again took me 37 years to get this one right!

  40. I live by the words of wisdom my grandma gave me when I was young – Always treat others as you wish to be treated

  41. If you do not go after what you want, you’ll never get it,
If you do not ask, the answer will always be no,
If you do not step forward, you will always be in the same place.

  42. Always do what you say you are going to,

Dont stress over something that hasnt happened,

You only get the one shot at life, so enjoy every moment.

  43. 1. Enjoy today, it’s the only day you have.
    2. Smile, it’s the most important accessory.
    3. Say “I love you” to those you love..
    4. Remember, “please” and “thank you”.
    5. Show kindness as often as you can.

  44. Good food and plenty of it! Sums up everything- be generous, enjoy yourself and don’t be afraid to ask for the best life has to offer.

  45. You will always look your best if you have a smile on your face. (This motto came in handy when I was constantly covered in baby vomit and milk after having twins!)

  46. Don’t sweat the small stuff
Tell your children you love them every day
Forget the housework – it will be there tomorrow, your children’s childhood will not
