Moments of me-time

Yesterday I had a rare series of moments of alone time. Well, it felt like it had been weeks {months even} since I’d been alone… but Ma kindly reminded me that it was only last week that I had a few hours of solace. It always seems like weeks since any alone time, especially when such chaos fills the between.

When I get to grab a moment of solitude, and I’m working, I like to light my favourite candle {gardenia is my scent of choice}…

Grab a little snack {apricot biscotti was my snack of choice}…
And watch a bit of trash TV while I work alone. I don’t really get to watch my favourite shows during the week, so I tape them on Foxtel IQ and save them for another time. A time like I had yesterday. I’m usually too enthralled in work to really get the gist of what is going on, but I love that it’s my show… and I’ve chosen to have it on in the background.

When you find yourself with a bit of ‘alone time’ on your hands, how do you like to spend it?

  1. I love when I have alone time because that's the time I spend working on my blog and future blog posts. I get caught up in my own little world and my alone time seems to pass by before I know it. Have a lovely day! xx

  2. sounds like some perfect alone time to me! usually i start with music (mumford&sons followed by coldplay) a latte + a peice of choccie and a bit of time in my craft room! just those first few chords of music relax me immensely. tatum xx

  3. Every Tuesday during the school term (unless someone's home sick) I have 9.15am to 3pm to myself. I really like to be at home, just pottering around, tidying up or on my computer and writing/reading blogs that sort of thing. Sometimes I got sit in a cafe and have my coffee, and flick thru a magazine. Heaven.

Next year, I'll have five such days. Can you imagine?!

Glad you enjoyed your time. Lighting a candle is such a nice idea!

(BTW – my word verification is 'blessedo' – I think that's fitting.)

  4. I am soaking up as much 'me time' as I can before I hit my baby-making years. When I'm alone, I love reading blogs, going for a run, wandering around the shops, or just making a cup of tea and sitting in front of the TV. Bliss. x

  5. alone time. I so need it to keep me feeling like 'me'
My favourite thing is to buy a pile of mags, and sit myself in a quiet corner of a cafe, drink coffee and eat cake, and read to my heart's content.

  6. My me time is always at the movies. But if I'm at home and find myself alone I like to swing in the hammock with a good bit of house porn and a diet coke. x

  7. a stroll along the beach or camped out on the beach with a mag/book

laying under a big tree, looking at the clouds dreaming

    rummaging through opp shops

one thing i really notice when i'm alone is i can take my time to do what ever i want, i don't have to be rushing because a little person is bored or ready for sleep or needs entertaining, even though i enjoy every moment with him……..me time is important

great post chantelle, a great reminder xx
