{love}: Proper Shoes.

I’ve been holding off for a while now in getting Lacey fitted for her first walkers (non-crib shoes). She’s been walking now confidently since January. Usually parents are advised to wait 6-8 weeks after their children start walking to get proper shoes. So we were well due.

We took her to a good little shoe shop over the weekend to get fitted. I was still unsure whether she was ready so asked the fitting specialist. As Lacey was running around the shop, she remarked, “She’s running, she’s ready”.

Lacey loves any attention. So sitting up on the bench getting her feet measured and trying on shoe after shoe was right up her alley.

Eventually we left with these lovely black mary janes. It’s so funny to see Lacey clomping around in them. She still seems too tiny to be walking, let alone wearing proper shoes.

Where has my baby gone? xx

  1. Oh I know!! That's a defining moment big-girl shoes isn't it!? But think of it this way 'Telle. You can buy twice as many pairs of shoes now – one pair for Lacey,and one pair for you!! xx

    I love MaryJanes too – my girls have 2 pairs for this season each!

  2. Great choice they are gorgeous! I learnt something the other day. I was in Bonza Brats you know that kidswear store? Anyway the lady there is French and she was saying in Europe they say once the child can walk they need to be in proper shoes with sturdy soles and ankle support. Whereas here in Australia we are told that as close to barefeet is best for a couple of months. So confusing. Me being me I got all anxious, who was right? What to do? So I went for the in between option for a month with various tip toey joeys and then moved on to the proper shoes. She still wears the TTJoeys indoors. I love the black patent MJs and Lacey will look gorgeous with her blonde hair. Perfect first big girl shoes.

  3. so cute telle.

    we waited ages to put oliver is shoes as well and he still often goes barefoot.

    i think it is good for them to feel the different textures on their feet- grass sand etc

    we were told to wait at least 6 weeks but we waited a lot longer

  4. what a beautiful first pair of shoes – nothing cuter than girls in mary janes! Going through baby clothes on the weekend at my in-laws we found our gal's first pair of walkers – bright pink patent mary janes {don't know how on earth I came up with the name for my blog…}
