Letter to Lacey: Thirteen Months.

This has to be my most favourite age. You couldn’t possibly be any cuter, could you?

You have Dadda and I cracking up from dawn (literally!) to dusk. You’re hilarious.

The other morning at 4:34am I woke to a little person kissing my face. You’d woken and crawled up to me and started planting them on me. Mwah. Mwah. Mwah.

I couldn’t possibly make you go back to sleep. You were so sweet, so we both got up and went to play upstairs. I love when you just wake up. You’re all gooey and yummy.

You kiss everything. The phone. Your toys. My knees. My hair. You kiss your hand, and blow it. You kiss you hand and then put it on my lips for me to kiss. You even blow kisses to the most random people out in the street. I’m going to have to teach you how to reel it in. You can’t just go giving out your love willy nilly now.

You love to chatter, Miss Lacey. You chatter away like you’re having a full blown conversation. Sometimes I hear words that I recognise. You’ll throw in a Dadda, a bird, Mamma or a woof woof. As for the rest, it sure sounds important. I just need a translator to figure it all out.

You walk so fast now, it’s almost a run. I want to be around you all the time, like a bumper, to protect from spills and falls, but I know you need to figure it out yourself a little too. You’re pretty good though. You can be brave when you want to, other times you ham it up for a little attention. You fall and wait for us to look at you or rush to your side and then you let out a little cry.

The other morning I was straightening my hair with my GHD. You were by my side fumbling around in the drawers in the bathroom. You discovered my old GHD. I kept doing my hair and then looked down and you were attempting to do your own hair. It was hilariously cute. I wondered: What have I created here?

You’re such joy to everyone. You’re peaceful. Happy. Content. Lovable. Sweet. Smart. Sassy.
You’re happiest when you’re out and about, people watching. It’s your favourite past time. You’re the biggest sticky beak around.

I love you so much. We love you so much. xx

  1. I reckon I’ve declared “my favourite age” on average of once a month (except when it was peak tantrum time)…at the moment I’m loving ‘nearly 3’…we can cook together, have jokes, and enjoy each other’s company. I love that we find every step of their journey magical…

  2. I agree with bugmum – they just keep getting cuter – almost to the point where my head nearly explodes from the pure cuteness of it all. My mum reckons that doesn’t stop until adolescence either, which is excellent news for cuteness conneiseurs!

  3. Ah that brought back really happy memories, that cheeky personality starts to shine through well and truly and the baby turns into a toddler – she’s delightful ‘telle.. and so are you xx

  4. This is one of the loveliest posts I’ve ever read on any blog 🙂 And Lacey is one of the most adorable creatures I’ve ever seen!

  5. BugMum – I used to do that with the kids I look after too. I’d gasp, hold my hand on my heart and say: This is just the best age ever. And now I’m doing it all over again!

I love almost 3. Their little sense of humour is terribly cute!

Skye – That’s good news to hear!

    Thanks Liss. xxx

We have SO much to look forward to Jess + Reddeer. x

    Thanks Iris and Laurie. xx

  6. My daughter is 13 months old now and that letter could have been written to her, it's just so sweet and really does sound alot like my little cherry pie! I love this age!

P.S. It's nice to meet another Chantelle (although it's spelt wrong, LOL!)
