I have some exciting news to share…

The past few weeks I’ve been up to my eyeballs in forms in an attempt to get my whole {little} family passported up. We’ve had the unattractive, no-smiling passport photos, we’ve lined up and showed dozens of forms of ID and we’ve applied for Visas {all new concepts for my non-travelled self}.

I’ve had nights where I’ve had very little sleep due to over excitement, just like a little kid gets {I assume} after drinking too much red cordial at a birthday party. Why all the passports and the excitement?

Well, I’m going to AMERICA, that’s why! Not only am I going to America… I’m going to Disney World!

Each year Disney holds a conference known as Disney’s Social Media Moms Celebration, where mummy-type bloggers from around the world gather together for a four day conference. Disney has asked me to go to represent Australia… so I’m gathering up my family this month and heading overseas.

We’ll be staying inside Disney World, and whilst I’m busy getting my conference on… Hubby & Lacey will be exploring the amusement park and undoubtedly having the time of their lives. Thankfully the conference is family-friendly, so most of the time we’ll be hanging together, having a blast {I hope!}.

It, unfortunately, meant I had to hand in my ticket to the Australian Blogging Conference held the same weekend in Sydney… but I’m sure I’ll hear reports from the event {and hopefully all the goss too!}.

So that fear of flying I have… I guess I had better get over it pretty darn quickly! I’ll be tweeting my way through the whole experience {as any good Social Media Mum would}, so follow me on Twitter for pics and tales of our adventures.

We’ll be extending our stay and seeing some sights in America. Have you ever been to the States? Is there anything we must see, or do, or eat?

  1. YAY! You are coming to my part of the world. I live right near Disney World. You are going to have so much fun. Let me know if you would like some tips on things to do/eat in the area.

  2. That's unreal, Chantelle!
    Congratulations.
Disney is the best! I went to Disneyland a couple of years ago for the first time and it was awesome. Disneyworld is supposedly even better. =D

  3. hip hip hooray….you will have the best time, i'd love to go……i know what you mean about the flying but at least you'll have your little family with you and not by yoursef big smooch lisa xx

  5. WOW! That is awesome! Sounds like the kind of stuff dreams (and a little bit of hard work) are made of. Happy travels and I'm looking forward to reading all about your adventures :o)

  6. Awesome! Congrats. You'll all have a blast.
I've been to the US a few times, and Disneyland and that was so awesome. If you can get in some shopping then do it because it's cheap.(well, not sure now with the AUS dollar?) Make up is so cheap there too. Try out all the food that you've heard of!
Enjoy! Your daughter will love seeing all the characters.

  7. That is great news Chantelle. You'll have a blast! I always wanted to go to Disney World (or Land). Sadly my partner hates theme parks so I might be too old when I get to go.

  8. What fun you guys will have! I live in the States, Colorado actually, and I've been to DW twice. Once in 2005 and then this past September, for our Honeymoon! We had such a wonderful time. Please, if you have any questions about what to do while there, tips, whatever, or fabulous places to eat–ask, I'd be happy to help. 🙂

You will love staying inside the Kingdom because you get to take buses all over the resort and it works out so well to not pay for parking and find a parking space.

  9. Oh My Goodness what a fantastic call/email that must have been when you were asked! I am so excited for you I don't know if I will be able to sleep now either!! No wonder you can't sleep.
I have never been to the USA so I will live through you for now if that's okay?
Have an amazing time with your family and at the conference. I don't know what I would be more excited about the Conference or Disneyland? Congrats!!!!!

  10. What exciting news, can't wait to see Lacey don the famous mouse ears 🙂 We love the States, there is so much goodness there! San Fransisco and New York were my favourites, though New Orleans and Memphis were a hoot as well!

  11. Wow Congratulations… That is awesome… My number one on my to do list was to go to Disneyland… I did that last year, but now my new number one is to do DisneyWORLD…
Shopping in America is awesome and cheap… Stock up… The food I loved when I was there was churros, pretzels, biscuits (but not the sweet kind like we call biscuits, they are like a scone cross a crossiant) and the californian burrito… Ohh and the Reeses Peanut Butter Cups for the sweet tooth…
You'll have an amazing time… Cant wait to hear the adventures and see some Point & Shoots from over there 🙂

  12. OMG!!! *jumps up and down* That is great news!!!! If you travel over to Texas you should come to Houston!! I'd love to show you around!!! 🙂

  13. Oh my gosh that is such fab news!!! Lacey will be loving Disneyworld and it is not a half bad place for adults either! I used to live in the states Telle (I went to uni there) and one of the many things they excel at is hospitality. You will be blown away! I am so excited for you and your family, please share lots of photos! xx

  14. It's going to be so much fun. We've been to Disney World a bunch of times as a family, but for the conference it's just going to be me and my hubby! I think you and your family will love it.

  15. You simply cannot leave the good ole US of A without experiencing the amazing CINNABON mmm mmmm mmm. You should see little cinnabon kiosk everywhere, they bake on site and serve warm. My most lasting memory of my North American travels!

  16. Saw your comment on the disney social media mom's fb page and hopped on over. Heard from Katrina Tran (Disney HK) that someone from Australia is also going for the conference and I'm SO GLAD TO MEET YOU! BTW, I'm Daphne, also going down for the DisneySMMoms conference from Singapore. We're also extending our stay for a couple of days. See you in Florida, so excited can't wait!

  17. How exciting, and I couldn't think of a nicer blogger to represent the land down under!
And I 'll be following your blog closer than ever as we are trying to plan a trip to LA later this year and Sadie will be the same age as Lacey when we travel so I'll be bookmarking any travel tips you have to share.

  18. WOW Chantelle that is fantastic! Haven't been able to read your blog in a little while and was so excited to read that you are heading to America and that the family get to go too. See….. your blog is loved by many and who better than you – to represent Australia. Can't wait to hear how it goes!! x Cassie
