Hello Monday. Nice to see you.

Brrrrrr.

What a chilly weekend. I was so eager to say goodbye to last week, which meant I was very excited when Friday evening rolled around.

Hubby was on night shift, so it was Lacey and I against the world. Hubby had already prepared dinner for us. A stew in the slow cooker. We came home to a house smelling wonderfully Wintery. We both popped on our PJ’s, had some dinner and then cuddled on the couch.

Lacey was happily playing, chattering away. Then all of a sudden she started to get a bit cranky and wanted more cuddles. I stood up with her to give her a snuggle and comfort her… when all of a sudden she vomited, and vomited, and vomited. We were covered. Even my socks were soaked. And then she vomited again, and again.

I stood, holding Lacey, covered in up chuck. Even my new yellow hair was tainted with vomit. I didn’t know where to start. I took us both downstairs, put our clothes in the washer, hopped in the shower and changed into new PJ’s.

I thought the Universe was trying to punish me for quitting breastfeeding. You see when Lacey is sick, she’s not the best little sick person. She doesn’t sleep a wink, unless I’m standing up, holding her, swaying, in front of the dryer.

Breastfeeding makes her a happier little cherub, but I knew I probably had nothing to offer her.

She slept not too badly. There was no more vomiting.

She was poorly for most of Saturday, but still happy (as you can see from the photo above!).

Saturday night though. Woah. I was knackered. By 10:30pm I messaged Hubby: I have been trying to get Lacey to sleep for 3 hours now, and she’s not buying it. Not one bit.

When he arrived home after work, she was still WIDE AWAKE. Eventually we got her to sleep just after one. She woke a fair bit and then refused to go back to sleep at 5am. So up we got.

I was happy to see Ma and hand her over though yesterday. I spent a few hours cleaning, washing, and getting the house in order. And then I lit some candles, put on some trashy TV, cooked my favourite pizza (homemade: mushroom, prosciutto and rocket) and had some Lindt chocolate.

I went and picked her up from Ma’s house and she had deteriorated a little, so I took her to the medical centre. They said she just has a little bug and it will pass. Hopefully quickly.

Goodbye last week.

Hello new week. I welcome you with open arms. xx

Oh. I forgot the mention. The countdown begins. Nineteen sleeps until my birthday. Yipeeeee.

  1. Aren’t babies funny. You wouldn’t see an adult with a huge grin like that on their face when they’re feeling poorly!

Poor Miss Lacey, hope she is feeling better today. How nice that you have your Mum to take her for a few hours to give you some “me” time. That must feel like heaven to you.

Here’s hoping this week is better for you.

    xx

  2. Awww, poor Lacey, she does look very cute in her hat! Hope Lacey is feeling better today and that this week is better than the last.

  3. Poor little Lacey! What a way to finish off your week. I'm so glad to read that you got some time to relax and spoil yourself. Hopefully this week will be a lot better for you. (By the way, Lacey's hat is adorable!)

  4. Oh, your poor little girl. I hope she is feeling a lot better. I feel your pain. I have been covered in toddler vomit three times in the past 24 hours, and baby vomit….well…..every day!
