Good news! {also, please vote for me!}

Rafiki Mwema

I have a few things that I want to tell you today, all about Rafiki Mwema.

So those of you who don’t know, I have a charity that I love to support and it’s Rafiki Mwema. It’s a charity that cares for girls that have had a rough start to life {many have been abused – or worse – by family members, or members of their community}. Rafiki Mwema cares for them, keeps them safe and helps them heal using play therapy.

My girlfriend, Sarah, takes care of the funding for Rafiki Mwema. I don’t know how she fits it in, but she does and she does a brilliant job. I love that I know exactly where my money is going. I can seriously ask anything, and I get answers. I also get updates about the home, the little girl I sponsor and more. I’ve been an ambassador for Rafiki Mwema for a while now, but I was just asked to join the board, and I’ve said YES.

Women’s Weekly recently ran an article on Rafiki Mwema, which you can read more about here. {I must warn you it’s pretty detailed and upsetting}.

This year for The Gift Exchange, each participant was asked to donate $5 in order to participate. We raised $6600 together, which is a huge amount that will make a massive difference. My friends at Olympus wanted to match every dollar raised {yay!} and so now we’ve raised $13200. $13,200!! Thanks to everyone who donated and played along.

So, a bunch of very cool dudes skated 350km on their boards to raise money for Rafiki Mwema, and they raised $10,000 as well. So with all the money pooled together we’re going to be able to buy the girls a generator. Yes, something as simple as a generator. Regularly the electricity will black out, and no one ever knows when it will return. Now, the girls won’t have that issue to worry about. This is very awesome! Thank you everyone!

Now I want to do more, and I need your help {no money required!}.

I’ve been included in the Kidspot Alumni group, and there’s a competition running where we can win $2500 for the charity of our choice {mine is Rafiki Mwema}. If I happened to win, the money would go towards the outreach program so that the Rafiki Mwema team can work on putting the girls back into the community safely, and supporting them beyond their time in the house.

There’s also an opportunity for me to win $7500 in Business Grants which I’d love to put towards a few projects I have in the works for next year.

If you have some time I would love if you’d click over and VOTE for me. It’s just a click {no email, no sign-ups, no Facebook log-ins, JUST A CLICK!}. So easy. You can vote as many times as you like. It closes on November 6th, so pop over and vote each day, a few times if you like, I’ll thank you in virtual chocolate thickshakes. ? CLICK HERE TO VOTE.

Thank you so much for your support, and for helping change the lives of these beautiful girls.

Also, if you want to donate a dollar or two, you can donate over here.

  1. I cannot vote for you any more times. My click-finger is sore 😉 When you go and visit the Rafki Mwema girls with Sarah… can I come? Such a good bucket list thing to-do. You guys are making a HUGE difference and changing this world for the better. I take my hat off to you xo

  2. I’ve been voting quite a few times today, to make it up for the days to come (no Internet connection then). I’ve also had a lot of fun discovering the other names on that site! I love the precise actions and needs you inform us on, and it’s always nice to do something for someone who is as involved as you are!
