  1. I’ve recently discovered that gluten is not my friend and I’m trying to cut it out, or at least cut down. I’m going to be following this post with a keen interest – in the meantime, here’s to good guts for your girls!

  2. Burger makes the best gluten free bread, especially the soy and linseed. You can actually make fresh sandwiches out of it. Ihaven’t had a proper sandwich in years so was super excited

  3. I’ve been GF for a longggggg time, and also dairy free and more recently I’ve discovered a fructose malabsorption issue so I like to think I know all the tricks!
The key is getting the basics right. Getting a good bread (Helgas), a good flour (White wings or Aldi) and knowing what snacks to pack for emergencies (fruit and rice crackers).
I’d love to help you out with recipe ideas. I started my own blog because of my dietary issues to help others eat cake!

  4. Mandy Nolan – I’m a MASSIVE fan of hers. She’s so funny. I was totally fangirling her and all. I spoke to her afterwards, as she once MC’ed a ‘celebrity’ debate that I took part in, and I told her how freaking fabo she looked. She told me if was all about what she did or didn’t put in her mouth. Try the Merrymakers, they have SO many great recipes. xxx

  5. I feel the pain- hubby is on low fodmap at the moment, so no wheat, fructose or lactose. Majorly difficult and annoying, especially trying to eat out! There are heaps of blogs that have recipes if you have time to sift through them all. Good luck! And Coles seem to mark down their gluten free breads on Sunday, where we are abyways, which is handy- I parcel the loaves up into little bundles for hubs for snacks, sangas etc xx

  6. I’ve been GF for about 6 years now as a way to help control my auto immune condition – noticed a massive difference after 3 weeks so that’s been my incentive. Miss sour dough but have worked around most other things. I break it for dumplings ☺️

  7. I’m not GF but one of my best friends and her daughter are (as well as DF) and so I’ve tried + made some delicious things over time. I absolutely LOVE the GF-spiced orange chocolate cookies by Emma Galloway behind My Darling Lemon Thyme. Also, this Chocolate Almond Cake is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! It’s actually my favourite choc cake, I make it all the time for all the people – who aren’t even GF!

  8. the merrymaker sisters have some great recipes but my faves come from alice nichols on her the while daily blog – so so good!! i made her salted caramel slice just last night ?

  9. there are so many yummy ways to make gluten free cakes! My fiance made me some delicious red velvet cupcakes that were gluten and dairy free for my birthday last year – I’ll see if I can find the recipe. I had to stop eating a lot of foods because of inflammation issues – under guidance from my naturopath – and I have been able to introduce most of them back in as an occasional food now! In case you’re a banana bread fan, this one is amazing http://www.theroastedroot.net/paleo-banana-bread/ and so easy

  10. Go to Tome @ Maroochydore if you are ever on the Sunny Coast – BEST ever GF treats and the Choc brownies are AMAZING!!!! xo

  11. We don’t have any intolerances but I do love making + baking things from scratch and have ended up with quite a few cookbooks with gluten-free things. I was recently given Lee Holmes’ Supercharged Food for Kids book which is really good. Most of her recipes are gluten free and some are dairy free or just specifically wheat-free (rather than gluten-free). There’s a great mixtures of sweet and savoury snacks and lunchbox ideas etc. Definitely recommend 🙂

The Wholesome Cook is another great one too!

  12. Hubby needs to have gluten free and we have tried a lot of different pasta options for when the kids want spag bol and not zucchini noodle spaghetti. We have found the pasta in the green and clear packet sold in Coles in the Health food section the most like normal pasta.

  13. Cloud bread is yummy. I use it when making hamburgers. I also use a lettuce leaf as my wrap for sandwiches or as my taco shell.

  14. I truly believe sometime in the future we will be told our weight gains have been affected by additives, and chemicals in our environment. Today they are already stressing organic whole foods but I believe research will be more forceful in banning processed foods. I went on a low FODMAP diet after a bacterial stomach infection didn’t resolve. In 2 months my gut has improved and I’ve lost 16 lbs. It is impossible to follow but it is gluten , dairy free and you avoid all fermented foods.

  15. I have a 10 year old who has had gut & bowel issues for years now after chemo (8 years ago). Gluten free had a mild improvement but it ended up being dairy was the biggest agitator. Especially milk of course. My father has Crohns disease so I’ve always been concerned, although not entirely genetic the predisposition is there.

  16. Go on FB the Gluten Free Dim Sim company make the best dim sims and they’re stoked all over the place. My daughter (Coeliac 10yrs old) loves the Special K too.
Taco’s are a good GF meal, and I find the San Remo pasta is our favourite. Finally, we love to make plain GF mini cup cakes and roll them in cinnamon and icing sugar for our own version of a cinnamon donut. It harder with children, especially going out because they’re a little fussier and aren’t always going to like what’s on the GF menu. I’ve been known to take a thermos of spag bol ready to go when we go out.
