Gifted.

I

was in Chanel the other weekend having my make-up done. I know that sounds oh-so-indulgent, but it really isn’t. I promise. Since having Lacey I’ve not only lost my cooking skills, but my make-up applying skills too. It’s best to leave it to the professionals, especially when it’s a special occasion.

Anyways, I digress. As you walk into Chanel you’re greeted with a chirpy Welcome to Chanel, just like you’ve landed on a remote tropical island. It doesn’t matter if you’re spending $50 {like I did} or $950 {like I wouldn’t}, you’re treated like the most important person ever. I love that.

As I was having my eyes done I could hear two men walk in and start talking to the shop assistant. One was looking for a perfume for his wife who had recently given birth to their child. He had many requests. It was a surprise for his wife, and he wanted to give her something really special. It had to be florally in scent. It had to be expensive. It had to be new. It had to be something you can’t get in Duty Free. It had to be special. I heard the two men sample fragrance after fragrance and comment on each one. Too fruity was one, too strong was another. They were going to such lengths, and were so into what they were doing.

It was fun listening to this whole situation with my eyes closed, imagining what the two men looked like. I thought either the husband was well trained, or just really cared about getting his wife the right gift.

I ended up leaving before they did, so I have no idea what fragrance the new mum received. I do hope she liked it, and realised how much her husband cares.

I’ve been thinking, what was the last gift you received from someone special in your life?

  1. Sometimes our husbands really do surprise us. The day I had my baby was Mother's day & my three year old picked a flower all on his own and brought it to me crumpled in his hand in the hospital. It was sweet, thoughtful and from the heart. Those gifts are always the best.

  2. My husband just bought me a white gold and diamond double heart necklace – one heart for each of our boys. It's delicate, gorgeous, and just the most perfect thoughtful pressie. I cried.
    What's yours Chantelle?

  4. Hi Chantelle! I just came across your blog the other and then you're mentioned in Decor8. 🙂

I've visited the Chanel counter once in my life and I loved that oh-so-special feeling, too. That's probaby why I walked away -£30! But that is such a lovely story, I hope the husband was buying because he cared and not because he was well trained – yikes!

Anyway, the last gift I received was a beautiful necklace from my husband. He knows I love etsy.com and wanted to get me something handmade. I make jewellery myself but it's so nice to get for a change. I love it! 🙂

    Wow, longest comment ever! (>_<)
