Expedit Exhibition.

It seems like every second house has an Ikea Expedit Bookcase. In ours we have two. I find it difficult in making them look stylish and on trend. Mine tend to look crowded and neglected.

I have been scouring the web for inspiration in how to make them look neat, and as if they’ve come straight from the pages of an interiors magazine. I think one key is to not have anything {well art is fine, piles of bills are not} sitting on top. It does make a huge difference.

Here are five that I’ve found for you today.

One. Two. Three. Four. Five.

Do you have an Ikea Expedit Bookcase? How do you fill yours?

  1. I don't have that IKEA bookcase but I do have another IKEA open bookcase. It doesn't sit against a wall (just to be different). We fill it with my husband's architecture books, my recipe books and ornaments of importance given to us.

  2. I don't have an ikea bookcase but a similar design we picked up in a Target sale. It sits in Callum's room full of his books and treasures.

I really like the one you posted full of baskets. That would be great for me because I'm naturally an untidy person.

  3. You have such a pretty blog!

I love the fourth one, I really really like that.

I haven't got an Ikea bookshelf but I want one! Just have to find a spare wall in my pokey house to fit it. A bookshelf should be cluttered and filled with wonderful books, is my idea. 🙂

  4. I love my expedit but it is no where near as stylish as those featured here. It holds a ton of books, dvds, cd's, photos and my collection of new and vintage tin robots. Keeping it tidy and neat is always a challenge, especially when my 3 year old insists on constantly pulling out books on astrology and aristotle. haha

  5. I cheated and bought two half Expedits and stuck them together to form the normal sized one. I figure that way, when we move or when I rearrange the house, we have more expedit options.

Half of mine are our books, and the other half, E's toys. Those shelves totally rock the house.

  6. I am actually on my way to IKEA next week to buy 2, unfortunately not for me but the kids toys. I'm hoping they will miraculously organise the pile of toys and books!!! I am in love with the first photo, that is my dream sewing studio.
