Drive By Shooting.

I

never really got Twitter. I went, I saw, and I just never really got it. I tried to. I tweeted. I was a twit. Whatever.

I was talking to a friend over the weekend who is also on Twitter. She asked what I thought of it. I told her that I just don’t get it. She then explained to me that it’s called Social Networking for a reason, you have to make it work.

So I am going to make it work {just like Tim Gunn says on Project Runway}. I am going to twitter a little more. I’ll be sharing a photo each day taken as I drive by {which I’ll be calling a drive-by photo shooting – how clever is that?}.

So follow me on Twitter. I promise to try harder.

I’d love to hear what you think of Twitter. What do you love? What do you hate?

  1. i am somewhat addicted to twitter.
and like to tweet about all the mundane things i do during the week. hahahah
maybe thats why i dont have too many followers…
    keep up the tweets!

  2. I use Brizzly as a Twitter client. It runs inside your browser and has handy features like explanations of trending topics and when people use Twitpic, the pictures show up in the feed.

There are aspects of Twitter I find irritating and that is that you often have to see half a conversation. But I also find that it gives me info that I might not have without it. Which is kind of frustrating as Twitter still seems somewhat obscure.

And what I hate the most about it is those clients which repost your tweets to your Facebook, or blogs. Who wants to read the same stuff twice? And see half conversations that way as well. I spit on LoudTwitter and its ilk. And people who use them, though I guess it's not fair to abuse them when I have never told them how much I hate it.

  3. hate twitter… i just dont get it… its like updating your status in facebook but somethings lacking – its too simple and not pleasing on the eye… just seems like a boring waste of time!

of course, thats just my opinion…

im sure plenty of people love it and will tell you why – i really look forward to those replies cause i must be missing something!

    rowe x

  4. I'm not a good twitter-er it has to be said… partly because I've never really been a fan of those facebook status update things. (I'm sure no-one cares what I ate for tea etc!) However coming from someone who blogs I'm not sure I'm allowed to think like that – surely a blog is just a big status update?!

On a completely dif note, re your comment on last week's weddingnesday post I say do try on the those dresses when you reach your goal! I guess it’s funny how we do that to ourselves… don’t allow ourselves to try things because we aren’t ‘perfect’. Lesson noted! I'm so looking forward to seeing your wedding pics this month too! x

  5. I have a lot of little oddball thoughts that don't make sense for blog postings but are more well-suited for Twitter's tiny stage. I get a kick out of it, and it has driven a little more traffic to the blog. Plus, I've “met” some people that I might not have otherwise. It's all good fun, I think.

  6. I've tried Twitter, I do get it, but I can't make time for it. Blogging and reading blogs is good because I can do it in my time, but twitter seems to be more in the moment. I can't keep up with reading tweets, and I don't have time to tweet from my phone. I'm not on or near a tweetable computer during the day. I think it would be great if you were on a computer all day, and it was running in the background.

  7. i'm not the best twitterer either. i feel silly informing followers of the mundaneness of my life, so only try sharing posts on my blog or something that is frustrating me, funny to me or something worth sharing. most days though it's just yet another thing that has to be done so i'm not too obsessed by it. that said, i've found some interesting things and people via it, so in that respect it's great!

  8. I freakin' love Twitter! I wish I had more time to use it though. 🙁 I can't really spend that much time at work tweeting but then by the time I get home – no one is really tweeting anymore since I have a lot of friends who live on the East coast and 3 hours ahead of me.
