Dear Body, I’m sorry.

Dear Body,

I’m sorry.

I’ve neglected you. I truly have. This winter may have been one of our worst. I failed to nurture you, to love you, to carry you through life with the utmost respect and adoration that you deserve.

I’ve been growing a baby, which sounds wonderful and for the most part it is, but it also includes daily morning sickness, epic indigestion and general uncomfortableness. I’ve also been chasing after a 5 year old, which indeed sometimes involves chasing. I may have yelled once or twice, “I have to stop running, I’m shaking this baby like a milkshake!”

So, I’m sorry. I’ve neglected you. I’ve rarely moisturised. I’ve rarely touched my makeup bag, my mascara has gone unused, my bronzer is crying out for a little love, and let’s not even get started on my hair. I’m sorry.

The one time I decided to indulge in a proper massage the lady kinda gasped, “Your skin is so dry.”

I squirmed a little. I’m sorry, to her AND to me.

I will change. I will make an effort. I will do better. I’m time poor, but I’ve found a way. I think you’ll like it.

So again, in case you didn’t get it the first time, I’m sorry. But onwards and upwards from here. Spring is just around the corner, and thy skin shall be nurtured. I promise. PROMISE!

Much love {well, more than I’ve been showing of late},
Me.

NIVEA has just released a revolutionary new product, an in-shower moisturiser. Can you imagine the team sitting around a table and someone piping up with this idea? Genius. For me, the shower is my haven. It’s where my family knows not to bother me, and let me be. As soon as I step out of the bathroom, it’s on. I’m being asked where things are, if I can do one thing or another, or I just have an audience while I dress {Lacey, not Hubby… cos that might be weird}.

So moisturising in the shower makes sense to me. I gave Hubby a bottle, took one for myself and off we went to our own  bathrooms and gave it a try. Hubby is a bit of a metro-type man. He moisturises religiously, every single day. He doesn’t have to say sorry to his body. Men always seem to make time for everything, don’t they?

First you wash, as per usual, then rinse, as per usual, and then you apply the in-shower moisturiser and then rinse again. It works. I don’t know how, but it does. Hubby was thrilled with the results {but we won’t tell his macho-type mates that, OK?} and I loved that it saved me time, was easy to use and I was giving my body the love and moisture it deserved. It’s the kind of treat you reserve for special occasions; dinners out, drinks with the girls, weddings, parties, anything… but now it’s easier to have the special occasion skin all the time.

I’m expecting a thank you note from my Body any day now.

  1. This is just what I need while we are travelling around Australia. I have said sorry to my body many times on this trip. Especially my poor old feet which are permanently red at the moment from the red northern Aussie dirt. I will definitely give it a try when it arrives in the shops.

  2. This sounds perfect for me! My skin gets very dry too. Particularly my hands and lower shins (a bit weird) so i’ll definitely give this a try.

  3. This is very sad but I”M SO EXCITED!! I’m so bad at moisturising my body! For a while I used their body oil you could use in the shower but it still wasn’t a moisturiser and I’d always somehow get it in my hair. Good job Nivs!

  4. I nearly got picked up the other day by been mistaken for a prune… my body would be a big challenge for Nivea as my skin has suffered from the harshness of our great Australian sun ,so if Nivea is after a challenge that their product work hurry quickly and pick me before I am carted off to the prune factory

  5. There are so many tongs I could be apologising to my body for, sorry for too much sugar, sorry for overusing dry shampoo so I can sleep longer in the morning lol

  6. Growing a baby certainly does take its toll on the body. Almost immediately after the birth of both of my boys I spent close to an hour in the delivery room bathroom pampering my body with all sorts of lotions amd potions.

it was a welcome back body loving session and it was amazing

  7. I’ve never thought about moisturizing in the shower. I always do it after I get out and dry off. I take lotion, mix it with some vaseline then make a paste of it and rub it all over my body. It keeps my skin super soft.

  8. Lovely ,looks like a great idea this,as i look like a snake shedding my skin,it is so dry and horrible. It would be great for lazy people like myself! Or time poor.
