Date Night.

For years (and years) it has always been me that relieves others of their parental responsibilities as they go out for dinner and do adult type activities. I would be the one knocking on the door, being handed the baby or gaggle of children to deal with for the night, and off the parents would go looking so pretty and smelling so nice.

Last night that was me. We got all dressed up for the first time since having Miss L and went out for dinner. My little sister came to look after Lacey. Lacey adores her and I know that I have nothing to worry about when she is with her. She does things how I would like them done, and thinks like I do. If anything she is more cautious and more protective than I would be. I love that.
I decided to wear my $35 outfit that I picked up the other day. Hubby always knows hows to make me feel beautiful. I walked up the stairs after getting dressed and received a cheeky wolf whistle.
As we drove down the drive way I had an odd feeling came over me. I’m an adult. This was a very adult thing to be doing. It felt great, but completely odd.

Nick’s Seafood, Bondi Beach

We had dinner down at the beach. It was lovely. We had a glass of wine and beer each. I had salt and pepper squid, Hubby had chowder. We both had steaks for main. We even went as far as having dessert. Naughty, I know, but almost necessary to mark this special occasion. We’ve been married for three years and we’re adults now! I had my all time favourite Creme Brulee, Hubby had Chocolate Pudding.

It was wonderful to be eating dinner uninterrupted, but even more than that to be ‘us’ again with our quirky little inside jokes and having the time to actually finish a conversation properly.

We came home and Lacey was fast asleep. By the time my little sister was leaving Lacey was waking and our parental responsibilities were resuming. After all we’re adults, it’s just as it should be. x
