Dancing and distractions

The littlest person in the house is a little under the weather. Poor little thing. She just wants to be held all day long, by me. Only me.

I’m happy to dispense all-day cuddles.

Time for a little distraction, and dancing. Last week {or the week before?} an invite arrived in my letterbox for a wedding, my sister’s wedding. It was the fanciest invite I ever did see. When we RSVPed we had to put the song that always gets us on the dance floor. Hubby was at work so I tried to think of the funniest song for him, and quickly wrote it down and sent it off. The best I could muster for him was Salt N Pepa’s Push It.

For me, it’s the song that never fails. Daggy? Heck Yeah. My song was Jessie’s Girl by Rick Springfield.

What song always gets you on the dance floor?

  1. This is a great post! Love it. I am about to send out my wedding invites too and we are asking people to make a request for the DJ with their RSVP! It’s a good way to ensure a great night with everyone on the dance floor!

    • Love that song! We always play that song when we do young adult dances and everyone starts dancing! One of the dj’s we hire even has a special oldies mix that starts with this song 🙂

  2. Love Shack. My cousins and I have this routine thing where we fake slap each other in the ‘Bang, bang!’ bit. I’m just a whore for dancing though so it doesn’t take much to get me on the dance floor!

  3. Billie Jean by Michael Jackson and She’s Got That Vibe by R. Kelly. I cannot sit still when I hear either of those songs!

  4. Funny story about that song. It’s my dance floor fave, too. My bestie bought a baby grand piano and for the baby shower she asked us all for our favourite song. I picked Push It. And sure enough she played all the songs. Including Push It. Awesome.

  5. Don’t Stop Til You Get Enough by Michael Jackson or Come on Eileen by Dexys Midnight Runners are 2 favourites to get up and get down!

  6. Twist and shout by the Beatles or anything from that era that makes your toes start a-tapping! (P.s I am an 80’s/90’s baby!) 🙂
