Customised couture

Shopping should be fun, right? It’s only just become fun for me. Before it was a painful experience of things being too short {I’m tall}, too tight {I’m tubby}, or not the right style… but I just had to make do a lot of the time.

Even shoes are hard to buy. I’ve always been a size 10-11 {huge!} and really there aren’t that many options when it comes to shoes for a person like me. Interestingly enough {or not} Paris Hilton and I have the same shoe size. I do wonder how the poor possum gets by!

For shoes I’ve always tried my luck at Wittner, or Duo Boots or my last resort, Target. Miss Maxabella put me on to Shoes of Prey though, a customised online shoe store. They make your shoes the way the want them. In fact you design the shoes yourself, and just send it through. Pick a heel, a toe, a wedge, decorations, the colour, the material… everything.

They’re pricier than I’d usually spend, but I ran them past Hubby {and he didn’t bat an eyelid – he has a radar for ridiculously priced goods} and promptly went about designing a pair. I’m hoping they arrive in time for BlogHer. I’ll show them off when they arrive and let you know what I think of them!

Just after I ordered my shoes I was looking for the perfect dress {or dresses – sshhhh!} to wear on my trip in the States. I came across eShakti. I read about a trillion online reviews before purchasing a dress but this is one that I grabbed. The brilliant thing about eShakti is that you can customise your dress to the way you like it. Want it longer, done! Want different straps, done! Seriously! I am so excited about getting this one in the mail {I’ll review it when it does}. And hoping it arrives in time too. Why oh why do I leave things so late?

Do you have some recent fashion finds that you want to share? Or perhaps a well kept secret store you might like to reveal?

  1. Ooh! Both these look so fab … I am a sucker for an online purchse and am also the owner of size 10 hooves so this is very exciting news! Looking forward to your reviews. x

  2. OMG, LOVE that dress, Telle. You are going to look amazing in that (and it's our fave colour, right?)

Can't believe you're getting Shoes of Prey shoes before me! Can't wait to see your design. x

  3. Oh I love the dress, and have spent the last hour looking at the website, only to discover they ship to the USA and Canada only 🙁

How are you getting it shipped to Aust??? have I gone crazy??

  4. I'm a size 9 or 10 in shoes, so I feel your pain…however, try being 163 cm and having feet that big! Like canoes I tell you! Lucky they're narrow. Shoes of Prey is seriously awesome and I waste hours on there designing and saving shoes!

  5. Great shopping tips! Thanks for sharing! I'm also tall, huge feet and and slightly on the plus side so always on the lookout for new places to shop online. Dorothy Perkins does great long length inexpensive jeans. Also check out Sarah Vain and Tall.

  6. LOVE the dress you got. I am still wearing some clothes from over 15 years ago as I cant find what I need – I am short, small foot (5.5, some times a 6) tiny waist, big bum and child bearing hips. So I need to find me a flattering dress pattern, and make me lots of them to live in. I am hoping the shoe problem will be fixed for now, living in HK with so many petite ladies – but I feel mega fat, as so many locals are so tiny.
So, who are these people who are “normal” size? I don't know any!

  7. Thank you chantelle –

it sounds like we share the same size shoe, but I suffer the narrow foot disease and find it even harder to find good shoes.

The larger the shoe, the wider it seems to become!

I will have a gander at the shoes of prey!

    thank you

  8. Oh I am in love with that dress, can't wait until you receive it, and if it's as lovely as it looks. Have picked out about half a dozen that I love, you may have just solved so many future problems when I'm looking for “that” perfect dress. Let's not even start on the shoes.
Damn sites that don't ship internationally!!!Are you using a mil forwarding service?
