Cord Chaos.

W

e have a serious lack of power points in our home. Serious. It drives me bonkers. And then I forget about it.

I don’t realise how messy all the cords and cables look, until I start to think about it all again. And I had to rethink about it all very differently when we had a crawling baby. It seems you have to look at everything from a different light when you have a little one on your hands.

The best solution is paying an electrician to put in some more power points. Our walls are concrete though so it’s not a quick or easy job. It’s a big task.

So my next best solution is just being able to tidy them up. I found this box online, and then went searching on eBay. Bargain.

Hubby did offer to knock one up himself out of a breadbox or something else equally as beautiful, but luckily I didn’t have to taken him up on his offer.

It’s not perfect. But it’s a whole lot better than before.

  1. Chantelle, you are my hero! I've been desperate for exactly this thing, now that Anouk is crawling (and the first thing she goes for is, yup, the darned cords).

    What are they even called??

  2. It's so funny that you'd write about this today – yesterday I tidied up all the computer cables and tv/dvd/xbox/aerial cables because they were driving me crazy! but your little cover is much neater and nicer… was it expensive?
ps. did you see Oprah's declutter show yesterday? did that inspire you? hehehe

  3. those little power boxes on the cords get hot, how hot does a plastic box full of them get? that would be my only concern, cos gee it would be nice to tidy up the cords around here too

  4. @Iris: There is a link there, but I think they are called BlueLounge cable box. They come in black and white.

@Elle: It was $60 including postage. So expensive for a box. But worth it in my eyes. I didn't catch Oprah… but now I wish I did! Darn.

@Kebeni: I read that they've taken that into consideration when creating it. The box is actually quite big and there is a lot of air room.

@Sharnigans: I'll have to pop over and have a look.

@Coco: I did that yesterday. Isn't it super painful? Ouchy. 🙁

  5. OMG, we are having the same exact problem with the husband's desk cuz of all the silly cords he has for his computer & speakers. It's so ugly and unorganized! Thank you for the link… I'll have to check that out!
