Conversations with sleeping toddlers

Poor Miss Lacey is running a fever. She’s so hot she could cook an egg on her back. Almost. I know some kids are great sleepers when they’re sick, but some aren’t. We’re in the ‘aren’t’ group. So I sit here in bed with her hot little body right beside me and she tells me in her sleep.

I can’t juggle.
Mama, I can’t juggle.
Can you juggle mama? How can I juggle?
Daddy can hoola hoop on his leg.

We’re one clown short of a circus act, it seems.

And then she fell back into a deep sleep.

  1. A fever makes for the most interesting dreams sometimes, obviously!
Hope your little angel is feeling much better soon, and you can go back to getting some sleep!

  2. You are one berry funny woman. Sorry the LovelyLittleLady is ill but, damn, sure makes great story-telling doesn't it ?~! Here's to a quick rebound and space in juggling class lessons.

  3. Hoping your little Miss Lacey cracks that temperature soon. In the meantime, enjoy the conversations while you watch over her.

  4. And of course you told her, “Yes, I can juggle. All mamas can. It's what we do, day in, day out.”

Wishing your young one well, Chantelle. Hope she recovers quickly.

They'll be plenty of time for juggling when she's feeling fit.

  5. We have had a sick little girl too. I only wish for such cute conversation. We had a couple of days of tantrums…oh joy. Hope Lacey is feeling much better soon. Your a good mum to lay in bed with her.

  7. Both my kids are sleep walkers & talkers. I have to warn people when they go on camps etc!! But now that they are young teenagers it's funny to talk with them the next morning and have a giggle with them. It is worse when they are sick or really tired… Year 12 could be interesting!!
