Christmas Day
Christmas Day by fatmumslim featuring Amrita Singh jewelry

I like to wear something new on Christmas Day. I think it’s because as kids we seemed to get a new outfit each Christmas and it brings back memories. Good memories. So I have been trying to figure out what I want to wear this year. I know it doesn’t really matter, because all we’ll be doing is hanging out, laughing and eating… and then swimming. I am keen to get my hair all chopped off too, but am not sure if I will have time to do that before Christmas Day rolls around.

Do you wear something special on Christmas Day?

  1. yes its the same here I always like something new to wear on christmas day 🙂

I actually have a very similar maxi dress that I bought from Barkins last month I will probably end up with that on at the end of the day, after swimming and eating too much

I have a special dress that I bought on sale a little while ago from ezibuy that will make its debut on christmas day :)its a christmas green colour with silver grey floral print very festive

  2. I think that hair would look fantastic on you!

& most years Santa buys us clothes to wear on Christmas Day, so I've just got to pray he has good taste sometimes
    🙂

  3. I always get a new Christmas Day dress, and now that I'm a mum my daughter and I get to shop for our special dresses together! Hers is sooo cute this year.

PS – I think you could totally pull off Haydn's cute bob…

  4. When we were young it was always something new, now that we are older it is not always something new but always something a bit special 🙂

This year I have a black and white print dress paired with black strappy beaded sandals planned for one day and then a blue one with brown leather gladiators for the other.

  5. Oh BTW, have had DD's xmas dress tucked away in the cupboard all year.lol.

Every year I splash out and buy her something ridiculously indulgent..last year it was this gorgeous layered number by chino with beautiful green and burnt red tulle peaking out the bottom..

This year it is a little vintage inspired frock from the UK brand ILOVEGORGEOUS with a lovely sage green sash. Can't wait to see it on her!

  6. That is the exact photo I am taking with me to the hairdresser today!!! (i also luurve that lippie)How funny. I'm in two minds though, because my whole life I've always said that I'm not going to cut my hair short when I become a mum…, but I reckon that cut still cuts it as young and glam, don't you think???

I am still trying to work out my christmas day outfit. I will be doing lots of cooking and lots of swimming, so it might just have to be a pair of swimmers and an apron. Ha!

  7. It's definately tradition to have a new outfit for xmas day – I bought a very similar Roxy maxi dress (black) the other week… it's fantastic and I paired it with a pair of strappy black flats (fancy thongs) lol
    i've worn it already – twice… but i don't care hehehe
Do you have a rule about not wearing it before xmas day?

  8. I don't get a new frock, but like you, the idea of new clothes for Christmas brings back fond memories. Maybe I will this year? If I have time. On holidays until the 22nd. That will give me only 2 shopping days! Not sure I'm up for the stress.

    Lovely thought though. x

  9. I love the tradition of wearing something you got as a Christmas present on Christmas Day 🙂 My mum used to take me shopping the week before so I could pick something, I'm actually looking forward to doing the same with my little girl..

And you would look fantastic with that haircut!

  10. Wow! It would be exciting to see you with short hair – I assume you will have a new profile pic.

I love getting to wear new outfits on Xmas! I never used to celebrate X'mas properly until last year. I used to celebrate Chinese New Year every year and that's just like X'mas in Asia. The tradition is that we need to wear all new things (top, bottoms, shoes, even underwear) on Chinese New Year for good luck!

Prolly good excuse for me to get a new outfit for Xmas if I continue with that tradition!

  11. yes! i have some new heels that i am dying to wear now that i no longer have the pregnant belly. now, i just have to figure out what outfit to wear it with! and hide this post partum belly!!!

  12. I usually do the new Christmas outfit thing too. This year, I have decided to break with tradition after surveying my wardrobe and realising I have quite a few lovely outfits I've only worn once or twice each (a result of the “I can't wear that I wore that when I was out with them last time; better buy something new” affliction).

  13. I also received a new outfit from my parents every Christmas growing up, and I still love to wear something new each year!
This year I'll be visiting the fam in steamy Qld, so a bright, loose-fitting maxi dress (to accommodate a preggie bellie + Christmas lunch!) will be on the cards. Accessorised by thongs and a new haircut 🙂
