  1. Oh no I should not have looked at this recipe. Everyone here loves Werther’s and chocolate.
I only have one packet …if I can find it untouched.

    • I have to admit, before I made this – I didn’t know about those Werther’s caramels. And man… I’m dreaming about them!

You should definitely make it. You’ll love it. x

  2. Caramel … only chewy tho’ not soft! oh and dark chocolate … wonder how they will go in this delicious slice?

    • Dark chocolate would be a dream, and I’d suggest not making the cream/caramel mix if you like chewy. Just chop the caramels and put them in. I’m going to try cookies that way when I’ve worked off the slice!

  3. This looks so delicious! I am going to go and buy the ingredients as soon as I get home from work! Any tips on how to measure butter in cups measurement? I dont want to melt more butter than I need unnecessarily =S

  4. These look so good! Just was at the supermarket and the only Werther’s I could find are the hard Classic Cream Candies. Are these what you used?

  5. My tongue hurts as I over indulged tiding up the corners… possibly not a good thing to over indulge in if you have a history of diabete’s in the family.. now going to drink some water. So delicious… not sure how I am going to resist not eating more, I have no self control… maybe I’d better hand some out a school pick up this afternoon!! Share the love… Thanks for sharing!

  6. Yummy, i’ll be making this. I’m ‘Team Caramel’ as far back in my childhood as i can remember i would always take the caramel or white chocolate over the milk chocolate. Thanks for sharing 😀

  7. These look like perfection! I only use bulk caramel in big blocks (let’s just say I’m a bit obsessed with the stuff). Do you know how many grams of caramel you used?

    • I am going to go to the shops today, and I’ll come back and let you know how much each one weighed. x

  8. Definitely team caramel! Chantelle you will probably find its that as your palate matures your desire for sugary chocolate fades and its the saltiness in the caramel that gets us!! You might fall in love with chocolate if you go for the darker, more bitter blends that have less sugar (my favourite of all time and I am no chocolate girl – is chilli chocolate – Lindt MMMMMM) – give the 70% blends a go if you havent already xxxx

PS cannot wait to try this it looks YUMMY

    • Ooh just what I was thinking too! Iprobably go even darker than 70%..85%? But the chilli one is addictive. I’m wondering if it would work in something like this for a more grown up and less sweet flavour… 🙂

  9. Hi,
Do you think you could use homemade caramel? Any one have an suggestions as to how it would work?
    Thanks

    • You could make homemade caramel definitely. The consistency is like a thick sauce, so when making your caramel – just make sure you have the same. x

  10. I am so not making that! Only because I would LOVE to eat it all 🙂 I am addicted to Chocolate, and carmel…so its not happening (oh maybe I can make it once?)

    • I think you have to make it once, have a corner slice and then ship it off to someone else. It’s GOOOOOOD!

  11. I am making it for the weekend when my family are staying – I couldn’t possibly make if when there is just me here – I would have no restraint and eat it all within a very short time I’m sure!

  12. I crushed a few Pretzels with my top layer of oats etc and made it a little bit salted caramel….love the recipe…thank you..x
