BLOGversation: Do you blog for you or your audience?

In the beginning I blogged souly for me. My blog was set to private and I didn’t consider that anyone would want to read it. Things have changed since then, I’ll always blog for me because if there comes a time when I don’t enjoy the process… I’ll opt out. I also blog for you guys, because I want to know more about you all too {which happens in the comment section and in Point & Shoot}. So I blog for me, and for my audience, I guess.

What about you? Are you a blogger? Do you blog for you or for your audience?

  1. Mostly for me. But I also have a private blog for the really me me me me whatabout me its all about me me stuff.

So my public blog is for me and for others, the lovely others.

    xx

  2. I blog for both…for myself ( because I enjoy it) and for others (in the hope that I've given them a bt of a laugh.). Yours was one of the first blogs I ever stumbled across x

  3. I think both – I consider blogging a community so I enjoy contributing to that community from a tutorial standpoint. But, I also blog for me as a sort of documentation of my life. One that I hope will still be around for my children to look at and see what Mommy was like.

  4. I'm new to blogging and at the moment I'm doing it for me – a place to experiment with my writing. But, being 'only human' it feels so good when people say they enjoy what they read there, so already I'm pushing myself to ensure my next post is something for everyone. I'm also developing an obsession for my stats!

  5. I blog for me but I hope that my bog does help others going through the same thing. As my blog is mostly a fitness and weight loss blog a lot of the information is just about keeping myself accountable.

  6. We Blog for both too, we obviously share pictures of our clients for them as a sneak peek, but also offer our thoughts and feelings about the session. We also Blog about our own lives, which is for ourselves but to also give readers and insight!

  7. I am a two pronged blogger. I have always been geared towards writing (it's my passion)! I am tryng to lose a lot of weight so why not put the both together?

  8. That's a question I've been pondering lately, Chantelle. Especially now I'm doing the 'Blogging Your Way' course with Decor8. My answer? The minute I start blogging for everyone else is when I stop blogging! J x

  9. I blog about my daily, every day life and thoughts that I'd love feedback on mainly for the entertainment of others. I love to talk, meet new people, and see how my life can relate to others, so this seemed like a great thing to do.

Like another blogger mentioned above,I also have a private blog where I write poems, or just journal about more private and personal themes.

  10. I blog about what I'm interested in and I'm overjoyed when people engage with what I've written. I don't even mind if it's a bit negative, to be honest, because it's just me being me and I'm not going to be loved all of the time. I think people in the blogiverse respect that from all bloggers.

I've never planned my blog or thought about what I'm going to write very much. It is what it is and I enjoy it immensely. x

  11. I'm blogging for me. I always held back on my blog for fear of losing some anonymity but recently i've set my blog to my private.

And now that no one can read it, i'm opening up a lot more & really loving it. I'm finding it very therapeutic.

Who knows, maybe one day i'll be brave enough to set it back to public but i'm just not confident enough yet.

  12. I'm a newbie blogger and right now, I am blogging for me. However, I feel very warm and fuzzy when someone comments on my posts. Sort of tickled pink to know someone actually read what I wrote about my life and cared enough to comment. Lovely!

  13. I blog for myself and my family. The primary purpose of my blog is to keep track of the creation of my garden, but, of course, I don't mind if other people read it and love getting comments 🙂

  14. I started blogging for myself, predominantly to remember the little details of life at home with my babies. I also thought it might be nice to share some of the funny / messy / completely disgusting stories with my girlfriends who are too far away to meet for coffee.
Now, I'll admit I blog because I feel like a tiny part of a regular girls' group – the blogging community has become my morning social scene, so to speak. I love reading yours, Chantelle, and Lucy's, and Babymac's, and Maxabella's, and all about the pink fibro…and every time someone reads my blog, or comments, I feel a little thrill of happiness. It's nice to be a part of something, isn't it?

  15. I blog for me.
This is why I haven't written a post in ages. I've been a bit busy with life and work and things, and blogging has unfortunately taken a bit of a back seat.
    If I lose followers, I don't mind.

  16. Both? I blog for myself and community, not necessarily for my “audience.” I took a blogging e-course lately and I know that not considering my readers is a big no-no…I try to keep my subject matter to somewhat relative, don't blog political or opinion stuff but really just share stuff that I love. I want to lean a little more on the humanitarian side (I want to move into humanitarian photography)and will carefully walk down that road knowing that I will lose some of my readers who are only there for the “pretty.”

  17. I blog for myself & others.
I feel that there is a lack of fashion magazines for young mothers.
Yes there is parenting magazines & then fashion magazines but why can;t there be both?
    &
to show people that I am not your normal young mother.

  18. oh! this topic is so good. i think a balance is definitely necessary, though i do battle with myself which is better or more preferred. in the end though, i think i do a balance of both.

  19. I blog for the purple elephant on my shoulder instructing the voices in my head. Just kidding! That's the Cactus Hour vino talking. Like you, I also started blogging for me and now I probably blog a teensy bit more for my readers – in that I'm always thinking of things they might enjoy. Long live the blogosphere! It's a joy.

  20. I'm a very new blogger (only started my blog 2 months ago), so I'm still trying to work all these questions out. I think I just blog for myself at the moment, although I am starting to think more about my audience (all 10 of them! lol) and what they want to read about. We'll see what happens!

  21. I blog for both. I’m writing about parenting and our familys experience with Autism, Bipolar and Sensory Processing Disorder, so as much as anything it’s a record of my journey, the kids journeys and how I learn and my thinking changes over time. I also blog for my readers because it’s really good to know you aren’t alone when parenting and/or raising kids with extra challenges (that one is kind of for me as well!) and because sharing my thoughts and my journey will hopefully encourage someone out there, or give them a bit of support or a lift in spirits when they need it. I’m not an exert or anything, but I figure I’m not the only one thinking/learning/walking this trip, so putting it out there will sure help someone!
