The very best bit.

The feeling you get when you’re handed your baby, for me, is the most amazing feeling in the world. When I was handed Lacey, I was so in love with her, but it also came with a feeling of shock and being quite overwhelmed {like, now what am I supposed to do?}. With Luella, I had such a positive birthing experience, and when I had her in my arms I was just calm and happy. I knew what to do, I knew what was ahead of me, there was just love.

I would do it over and over and over again if it didn’t hurt so damn much and end up in months of sleepless nights.

Meeting Luella has to be my very best bit of 2013. Nothing else even really comes close.

What was your very best bit of 2013? When you look back at the year just gone, what makes you smile most?

  1. My 2013 was terrible. I’ve been depressed all year. With school and my grades and just in general doing my job to please everyone. That is by far the hardest task in life. Trying to please everyone and fufill their needs. Also all the bullying has really got to me. I’m being teased endlessly for being overweight and ugly. Society always says just be yourself well how if I’m being judged??? Hopefully 2014 turns out better.

    • I am so sorry to hear that 2013 wasn’t very kind to you. I found in my early 20s that pleasing everyone else was never going to make me happy, so I decided I needed to make myself happy first.

      I hope 2014 is your year. x

  2. Beautiful! I had a fantastic 2013, it was full of ups & downs like all years but the ups out weighed the downs by a long shot. I think my favourite moment would be the day we moved into our first bought & paid for house. It’s been wonderful being able to make a house a home this year and I couldn’t be more excited about what 2014 has in store for us. Hope you have a wonderful New Year! 🙂

  3. 2013 has many ‘best bits’ for me. We started the year in New York (I’m from Canberra) , visited New Zealand in April and went on a road trip along the East coast of Australia with friends from the UK. I’ve discovered photography and Art Journaling. I’ve made new friends and cherished old ones even more. But the best bit has been having my beautiful partner beside me each day. Nine years together and going strong. Life is good!

PS : Thank you for your posts and the photo a day lists. Finding you has also been a highlight!

  4. I’m the same, welcoming baby Belle and then 12 weeks later creating baby number 3. Love my Irish Twins!

  5. 2013 has been a great year, just like I wished last new year’s eve!
Graduating college, some very memorable trips like Françe, NY to meet my bf’s family, a cruise to bahama’s … there is so much to be thankful.

I also have to agree that learning about the photo a day challenges brought a lot of joy to my days and made appreciate little things! Can’t wait to keep it going!

Hope 2014 brings better things to all of us!

  6. 2013 has been awesome. There were so many best bits… getting clear scan results (no more radiation for me!) buying our first home together down under and a blissful week in Bali (can’t wait to go back!) Bring on 2014 and let the good times roll. So much to look forward to…

  7. Deciding to take the plunge and start my own business. I’m completely scared some days but on a lot of days I have this limitless enthusiasm. Not sure where its coming from but it’s a good feeling! Happy New Year!

  8. I loved the summer. Hanging around with friends at our favourite place at the river. This makes me smile all the time!
