A Pampered Tale.

I

am not a particularly loyal shopper. I’ll switch from brand to brand, depending what I feel like or what’s on special. I do like my one particular type of toilet paper and it’s not allowed to have animals or flowers on it. That’s the only brand I’m loyal to.

I’m the same when it comes to nappies. I’ve used Huggies for my whole nannying career, and despite a short stint where I attempted to use cloth nappies, I thought I would use Huggies for Lacey just because I knew they worked, and it’s all pretty boring really.

I do sway between Huggies and Aldi though. Aldi actually work out a little cheaper, and because nappies are pretty boring it doesn’t make much sense to waste my entire savings on them.

When I was invited to the Pamper’s Perfect Night’s Sleep I had to admit the only time I’d heard of them was when watching my favourite movie as a child, Goonies. ‘No Sir, she’s actually out buying all us kids Pampers’ was the line in the movie. Back then I came to the conclusion that Pampers were nappies, and that was the end of my interest in the brand.

After my perfect not-so-perfect night’s sleep we were given some nappies to try. I’m the sort of person that gets excited about free things, no matter what they are. Yes, I even get excited about those small travel size vegemites that they sometimes have at hotels. Sometimes I bring them home, even though we have a big jar of the stuff in the cupboard. I’m kinda like that. Moving on.

The nappies are thin. Like revolutionary thin. Last week I took Lacey to the shops in her {ok, mine} favourite pair of jeans that were starting to get a bit small for her. It appears that she now has another 6 months of wear in them, as long as she is wearing Pampers.
Lacey was toddling along and her pants fell all the way to the ground. A bunch of three guys who were hanging around the ATM were folding over in laughter at the sight. We didn’t realise that her pants were on the ground and kept walking, only to turn around and see poor Lacey revealing all to onlookers.
We pulled them up, and went on our way… only for it to happen again, and again. So we took the jeans off and embraced the situation and bought some new pants for her. Any reason to shop.
So they’re reaaaaaalllly thin. Very similar to wearing underpants. To me they seem just as absorbent as any nappy I’ve tried. I haven’t had any real problems with leaking nappies anyway. She is still waking every three hours or so, so no perfect night’s sleep for me. But I’m not sure they promised miracles… I’ll have to check the packaging.
All in all, they’re a good nappy. I like them because they’re trim. I’m told they work out to under 50 cents a nappy, which is competitive. At the moment I believe they’re only available at Coles.
Would I pay money for them? Yes, I would. But I’d still switch it up between Huggies, Aldi and Pampers. I’m not completely converted and loyal. I’m not sure I’ll ever be {except for my lovely toilet paper, without the prints – don’t forget}.
Pampers are giving up two jumbo packs of nappies for one lucky Australian reader. If you want to go in the draw to win, just leave a comment below letting me know your baby’s weight {the nappies are so thin, that it’s important to get the right size}.
Entries will close on Sunday at 12 noon. I’ll announce the winner next Monday. Only one entry per person.

  1. I no longer need nappies (thank the gods and goddesses above for that!) as we are finally done in that department, BUT…………I used Pampers in the UK for my son Charlie who was a HEAVY wetter. I fretted over the incredible “thinness” too. They worked brilliantly!

  2. Oh how much I would love to win these!
And great review by the way! We had the situation once with the pants falling down when we were toilet training haha.

Bubs size here would be newborn or the smallest available please (If I am lucky to win)

  3. Such a shame your sleep issues are still not sorted – I think that is one of the hardest things to overcome when parenting. My eldest slept through the night until 8 months old when for the next 18months he woke up every night. So hard 🙁

I haven't tried pampers – I am a big fan of Aldi. Huggies were the wrong fit for my boy so we never used them. My daughter being only three months has so far stuck with Aldi, but I would love to give pampers a go, we are off to coles tomorrow so will have to look out for them! She is 6kg.

  4. Love having a review..tried and tested..our little one is 8.5kgs and we would love to try them…go the Aldi nappies!!

  5. miss L is 10 months and 8 nearly 9 kilos- she is small, delicate, and flourishingly adorable. she is delightful and determined!!

  6. Oooh I'm a lover of giveaways too 🙂 My little Princess just turned 2 and is in 'undies' all day now…but still wearing nappies to bed! I would LOVE to give the Pampers a try…a think nappy sounds wonderful! Ella is not a fan on wearing a nappy anymore so if they are thin (and almost undie -like) then she might wear them without a fight at night time! She is 14kg now.

  7. Oh thanks for the review, I have always wanted to try them but have been very hesitant. My little girl is a big wetter and I have tried all nappies on the market, the only ones with no leakes have been Huggies so I have been loyal to them after wasting so much money on other brands. I would love to give these a go. Her weight 13kg, she is in walkers with Huggies.

  8. I'm think I have a similar philosophy to you when it comes to nappies. I strictly use Huggies overnight and go between Huggies and Pampers during the day and Aldi for when we are bumming around the house (ha ha bummin & nappies!!!) I also use Aldi as the first nappie of the day because (T. M.I.) it usually gets poo'ed in.
The initial reason I brought the Pampers was because of the ELMO print and I was also really impressed with the reduced derriere.
    Sadie is 12kgs
Thanks for another awesome giveaway Chantelle

  9. My little one is nearly 11kg.
I had been looking briefly at them at Coles the other day. I have only ever used Huggies.
What happened with your coth nappies? Did you not like them? I have never used them but have heard good things about them.

  10. Oh how I would love to win this!! With 2 little boys currently in nappies (14kgs and 15kgs) and a new baby on the way I suspect we'll be going through a LOT of nappies!!

  11. My friend converted me to these recently. She used to get them sent over from Singapore by her friend just so she could use them on her bub. I love how thin they are too. You wouldn't even know they were wearing a nappy sometimes!

  12. My baby is only 7cm long
I am not sure how much Flipper weighs….
We would need the “newborn” size if we were lucky enough to win

    Awesome giveaway!

  13. I exclusively used Pampers when we lived in the UK, they were the go-to brand. Then we moved to Aus and I asked my mother-in-law to get some for when we arrived, she bought Huggies because of course that was all there was. I was nonplussed. Now I would love, love, love to go back, I much prefered Pampers, especially the newborn ones. However my baby now weighs 10.5kgs and is nearly walking so thats the size I need!

  14. Thanks for the great giveaway! I have only tried Huggies so far and have been hesitant to test out other brands, because it's an expensive mistake if I don't like them. Max is 7.5 kilos.

  15. Hi Chantelle
My little girl is about 13 kilo's. I have only ever used Huggies with her, but of course would love to try the Pampers for free!
    Thanks, great giveaway!

  16. I am a huggies mum hands down…. but i recently bought aldi and so far so good. I just loathe going to aldi because it means going to aldi and a 'normal' supermarket because aldi never has everything I need and I inevitably end up spending more, despite trying to save money by going to aldi.

    *sigh*

I haven't had Em weighed in a while, but she'd be around the 7kg mark I think.

  17. We tried a pack of pampers form Coles on sale last week $8 for about 20 which I thought was awesome. We also loved them for under an adorable pair of skinny jeans!! Free nappies are always great we have a boy 14kgs

  18. I would love to win a pack of Pampers nappies. With a 4 month old and a 18 month old, we go through nappies like wildfire. I too initially though of going cloth when our first daughter was born, but lets just say I changed my mind VERY quickly. The main thing about the cloth nappies is that they make the little ones bottoms sooooo huge, it's hard to get pants on them! Curious to try the thin pampers for my 18 month old (11.5kg) as some of her pants don't cover her bottom properly because of the nappy bulge!

  19. Very Interested in trying these now after reading your review. I still have 2 in nappies and another on the way, so Nappies kind of dominate my life! Always hanging out for the $29.95 box specials of huggies and then I buy in BULK!

If I am lucky enough to win I will try them with India who is 10kg. Thanks!!

  20. I would love to win these too having been loyal to Huggies for nearly 2 years. The thinness sounds great! My wee one is nearly 2 but oonly just hit 10kg. Many thanks for the chance!

  21. I love a practical review! Would love to road test these out with my boy/girl twins @ 14kg/15kg! I also love the fact that Pampers are unisex. We have been rather loyal to Aldi nappies for the same reason [but they are on the chunky side but no OVERNIGHT leaks!}. 😀 Cat

  22. ooh ooh!! I LOOOVE pampers, and with bubba twins I swear I go through about $10 worth of nappies every single day. We need size 3: 7-13kg. Please random number generator (or Lacey)- pick me!! xxx

  23. I don't need nappies, thank heavens – we're only doing nights these days. But I did try the Pampers recently overnight, the largest size because he's three – too thin for him, or maybe I got the size wrong. I'm an Aldi girl all the way with nappies. I did Huggies with my oldest and then switched to Aldi with my second – mostly because he seemed to wet through the Huggies as well. Maybe he's just a really heavy wetter. Oh well, you have to be good at something, right??

  24. I've seen these in the shops, but love my huggies. I didn't know they were such a slim fit, that sounds good.

    Charlotte is 6kg, thanks.

  25. Thanks Chantelle for this giveaway.
Pep is around 12kgs and we also use a combo of huggies and Aldi. I still think Aldi wins hands down and am happy to try Pampers on your advice 🙂
Hope you start getting more sleep very soon it is a killer!
    Bron xo

  26. I used papmers from the UK and Ukraine (made in Poland). They were great – very thin. On a heavy wetting night, the wee felt like it was held as liquid in the nappy, which was weird but they worked great (especially with newborn poos!)

Out of interest, the word for 'nappy' in Russian is 'Pampersiy'. Great branding hey!

  27. Our not so little man is 12kg, Im a Huggies Mummy generally.

I have found whenever I switch it up I regret it in the early hrs when Im changing outfits and the cot.
