A little challenge: Could I? Would I?

This is a sponsored post for BlackBerry Z10.

If this isn’t the first time you’ve read my blog, you might very well know that I’m an iPhone addict. But more so than that, I’m a technology-lover, I love the convenience of being connected whenever wherever. We’re not Apple-ist in our home. Yes, we have Apple TV, and a Mac or two, but we also have a little Lenovo, a little Samsung… and my phone before my iPhone was a Blackberry {when my sister was living in the States she treated me to one. Huge brownie points for her back then}.

Recently BlackBerry challenged me to take on their new BlackBerry Z10. Could I? Would I? Blackberry are sponsoring an episode of Celebrity Apprentice tomorrow, so they set me off on my own little challenge {well two, actually!}. Here’s how I fared:

Challenge 1: Shoot a video about your blog using the BlackBerry Z10

The video for my blog was meant to be a bit of a promo video, and I’m not very good about promoting myself or my blog so I knew it would be a challenge. Instead I thought about how I’d explain my blog to my Ma, because she doesn’t read it. Well, she has twice I think but doesn’t really get it. So one weekend I grabbed the BlackBerry, Lacey, the dog and some balloons and headed out to make some video. You can see above how it turned out. I showed Ma and she watched it over and over again, and asked, “Did those people really say those things about your blog?”

“Umm… yes mum.”

Challenge 2: Look the part of a blogger

BB-2Women be shopping.

Well, this blogger did anyway. I was given a budget to spend online at The Iconic so off I went to shop, using the BlackBerry Z10. The Iconic does plus-size, so I was a happy camper. I needed to get something that would take me from blogging, to meetings, to a few drinky-poos at night. Don’t tell anyone, but I kinda shopped while I was in the middle of an important meeting. See how versatile I am? And the Blackberry Z10 is too? That’s multi-tasking at it’s finest, I say. I grabbed the dress in a size up to accommodate my growing bump and I’ll wear it with stockings during the colder months, I’ve been searching for an over-sized watch for ages, the bracelet will be great for during the day and that nappy bag will hold everything I need – laptop, cardigan, kid stuff, phone, camera… everything! Here’s what I snagged:

So what’s the verdict?

At first it took me a few moments to go from iPhone-mode {in the way I swipe and use the phone} to go to BlackBerry mode but then it was like second nature. It was the same when I went from BlackBerry to iPhone many moons ago. For me the BlackBerry Z10 is a grown-up phone, with a playful side. It makes working as a blogger on the go easy, with access to emails, online and various apps readily available. I like the notifications, because they’re right there in one place – whether it’s from email, messages, Facebook etc.

My most favourite part though, is how it feels. I’m a tactile person and the screen is a beautiful size and the camera works wonderfully. For the photo-takers out there, it has a cool feature called Time Shift, where you can combine elements from a few shots of the same photo to create the perfect photo. So, if you were taking a group shot and one person had their eyes closed and someone else wasn’t smiling… the feature could change that and make it into the ideal shot. It doesn’t yet have Instagram, but will have it within the next 12 months so I think that will be a big game changer when it does.

For those in Australia you can watch Celebrity Apprentice on channel 9 tomorrow night. The show is brought to us by BlackBerry, who obviously don’t mind a little challenge or two.

  11. Hi Chantelle, did you use a video editing app for this or is that all done on the Blackberry as well?
