A chimichunga kinda week

It’s Thursday, right?

I tell you it feels like there have been a bundle of weeks thrown into just a few days. It’s been a whirlwind of a week!

On Monday Hubby got a new tattoo to honour his Dad, so it was a bit of an emotional {and ouchy} day. Just before he left to go and get inked I had a meeting {which involved me locking myself in the quiet of my bedroom, under my blankets and dialing into the office} and a whirlwind of events and announcements occurred afterwards.

Then my little sister got engaged on Monday and my mind has been swirling with ideas for weddings and celebrations. Oh my. I’m in heaven. I was in my element with planning my wedding, but this is about to get seriously fun. I’m going to be a bridesmaid too! My first time ever!

My big sis has also had a big week launching her bestie’s {Zoe Foster} new book Amazing Face. Big Sis, Sarah, recently followed her dream to become an event manager, and she’s very busy organising big events and this one was very special. I’m very proud of her.

Here’s Big Sis being all event manager-ish at the launch. I’ve only skimmed through the book, but it looks brilliant so far, and I did learn one very important thing. My skin always goes hay-wire in Winter and I always get particularly dry skin around my mouth. So this past weekend I was lathering lotion upon potion trying to fix it. One quick flick through the book diagnosed my skin as thirsty not dehydrated so a few litres of water each day later and I’m back to normal. Phew.

Last night we had dinner with my cousin and her beau at a little Mexican place near home, and then headed home to crash with bellies full of Chimichunga {seriously that is my new most favourite word. I want to say it a trillion times over cos it’s all sorts of funny}.

How has your week been? And have you ever been a bridesmaid, cos I might kinda need your best tips…

  1. I was a bridesmade at my cousins house. Bless her she didn't make me wear an ugly dress. My cousin also was not a bridezilla.

It cost a fortune but i enjoyed every minute.

  2. Wow! What an amazing few days! How wonderful for both your sisters! I was a bridesmaid, well maid of honor, for my sister last October. She def. needed someone to talk to when things got a bit stressful, and I listened 🙂 And though she and I live a few hours away from each other, I was there on the phone to de-stress her and make her laugh. She spent a lot of time on thinking of the guests and what they would like, and if they they will enjoy it. So I made sure that along the way of planning it she had fun and especially the night of 🙂 I wish you all the best!

  3. I've been a bridesmaid twice and I loved it both times! You'll have a ball Telle!

I really have to go and get Zoe's new book – it looks great!

Congrats to both of your sisters!

  4. I am currently living out the movie 27 Dresses with my 5th stint coming up… best tip from a veteran? Step back! Even if you can ordinarily tell them where to go when they're being difficult, when it comes to their wedding, just smile and nod! But no matter what happens in the lead up, the day is ALWAYS amazing and you will be totally consumed by how much you love them and be so honoured you were chosen to be a part of their day. Have fun! x

  5. I've never bee a bridesmaid and the rate my sister's going, I don't think I will be anytime soon!!
The book sounds fab too! 🙂

  6. Oh congratulations on the bridesmaid gig, it is a real honour. I have done it 3 times now… had an absolute ball for 2 of them, 1 of them was a little testing due to a bridezilla lead up, but we got through the day ;o)
I'm sure you will have a blast organising all the bridesmaidy things and being your little sister's wedding will make it all the more special.
Best tips: stay calm; do WHATEVER the bride wants you to do; plan a kickin' hen's night/weekend to remember… she will love you even more for it!
Chimichunga IS a great word, isn't it!? :o)

  7. Wow, congrats to both of your sisters! And I definitely need to drink more water, because my skin always seems dry; even in the summer. I've never been a bridesmaid, but have secretly always wanted to be one, so I can't share any tips, unfortunately.

I just love your blog, and wrote a little bit about it on my blog this morning. You can see my post here:

Oh, and the Chimichunga thing….. when my husband and I were first together, he once jokingly called me a Chimichunga, and I thought he made the word up. It wasn't until years later that I learned that it's a fried burrito. Duh, lol. 😀

  8. I have been a bridesmaid 3 times and a wedding planner once – not counting my wedding. I was only 11, 12 and 15 when I was a bridesmaid though and I didn't have my own bridesmaids so I am of no help at all.

  9. Congrats on both your sister's success. I have 2 sisters also, and couldn't live without them. The store where your big sis held her book event, is fantastic! What an amazing space and beautiful products. Have fun leading up to the wedding. (Fun is my best advice!)

  10. Oh wow…what a beautiful shop! I was actually just recently asked to be a bridesmaid for my childhood friend! My first time too (Indian weddings don't usually have bridesmaids so I always pine over my non-Indian friends' weddings) and I'm really nervous!!

BUT – have you heard for Lady Smaggle? She's a Melbourne blogger and actually just released a podcast on tips for being a bridesmaid. It's like $2.99 or something – I am planning to download it when I get back home to Melbourne as well 🙂
