    • She slept inside for the first 6 months, just in the laundry. And she was probably inside all the time for the first 2 months – with little trips outside {it was winter}. Now she sleeps outside in her dog house, and will come into the laundry if it rains.

  1. I am “Grammy” to Kobe, an 18 month old Choc Labrador Retriever.. He steamrolled into our lives as a tiny puppy and has filled our home with utter joy & frivolity, hence my ability to forgive him almost anything! I could write a book on living with Kobe and when my son leaves home, taking Kobe, (shock, horror) we are moving with them!
Kobe has reminded me to just enjoy moments, find the wonderful in life!

  2. We also have a chocolate lab – Otis Brown. He is the sweetest, goofiest, most loving guy. He is 6 now and we love him to pieces, as he does us. Labs are special, they make themselves a part of the family more than any other dog. My favorite part about him is how he is with kids, his play changes based on their size and age. He is more wise than he lets on. Dogs are the best teachers in loving someone the same, no matter what.

  3. Our pup is 6 months old and I would have to agree about how dogs can teach us to be forgiving. Even when I am a terrible “mum”, all Lotte wants is to climb all over me, stick her nose in my ears and slobber all over me as if I’m her favourite person ever.

  4. I had a cat For almost 22 years. The hardest decision I ever had to make was to end his life. He taught me to hang on no matter what your going through … life is worth living. The light of a new day brings hope. Love your post. Very inspiring.

  5. I am mum to Moki, a 4 year old Australian Shepherd. Much like Bronte gets her ‘whole body wag’, Moki has a wiggle bum. The breed standard for Aussie Shepherds is a natural bob tail (Moki was born without a tail) and so whenever she gets excited, the bum wiggle takes over, which in turn becomes a whole body wag as well. I think Moki has taught me that even if you’re having a hard time, chances are there is someone else having a hard time too, and just being there for them is important. Hubby is in the military and went to the Middle East 2 years ago for 4 months. Moki was absolutely miserable that Dad wasn’t around, yet she was always such a great comfort for me, knowing I was missing him too. Such a sweetheart.

  6. I love this… I have 4 dogs, so lots of ‘personalities’ around the house… I’ve also learned that “a good snuggle always makes things better” 🙂

  7. My dog has taught me what a mothers love is like, or as close as can be. I can’t imagine loving anything more then him. Him just being alive has helped pull me through some dark depressions, knowing that I have someone depending on me. He probably has taught me a lot & I know I wouldn’t be the person I am today if he wasn’t in my life.

Bronte is gorgeous! My parents got a new puppy recently and he sounds very much like Bronte. Apart from my dog, who is turning 11, my parents have rescued dogs from shelters, and most of them have been abused, it’s so shocking to see the difference between a dog thats grown up knowing only love, to one that hasn’t.

  8. We have a jack russell X his name is Winnie and a chihuahua x shitzu her name is Lexi.

They have taught me to love and to smile and laugh. I had quite bad depression and they were the help i needed to just LOL at the funny things they do when we go for a walk. They make me chuckle and smile all the time. I love to have them snuggled up on my lap for cuddles and they look at you with such love and adoration that you just melt inside……love love love my puppies xxxx

We call Lexi piglet because she walks on tippy toes like a little piggy 🙂 She is also a little on the rotund side hahaha

Bronte is gorgeous 🙂 Lacey has a wonderful companion in Bronte, i bet they play together for hours ……

  9. I have a 10yy Maltese Terrier called Georgie and like some of the ladies have said, Georgie has been with me through a terrible time with mental illness and she knows when i cry and she comes to me to comfort me. Last September, I noticed that she was unwell and we took her to the vet. It was discovered that she had Cushing’s Disease and so, she is on medication for the rest of her life. So we look after each other now and she is a gorgeous girl and I love her to bits. She is our baby fur daughter and live inside with us. I could imagine it any other way. They are sensitive creatures and they like human companionship a lot. They like to know that you are nearby and they love their belly rubs and treats. I absolutely love dogs…my favorite animal. Bronte is very cute.

  10. I love this. I have an 18 month old black lab called Buckley who we all adore. He has a great whole body wag! He has brought something else to our home and I can’t imagine life without him. Plus, I regularly run with him and I recently fell over when out one morning. He saw what happened and came bounding back to check I was ok.

  11. What a great sentiment “Perhaps I am the person my dog thinks I am”. If you’ve ever owned a dog, you know that in their eyes you are the best. Just love this.
