11 ways I love Winter

I actually thought it was already Winter, because it’s been so chilly of late… but today marks the first day of the season. Part of me wishes it snowed in Sydney so that we could make snowmen and catch snowflakes, but I also know that with snow would come it’s own troubles {namely being it would be constantly super cold!}.

Here are my favourites things about Winter:

cold, snuggly nights in
Winter fashion: scarves, jeans, boots & jumpers
warm & comforting food: puddings, porridge, soups
sleeping snug like a bug in bed
Bondi becomes a ghost town {almost}
little girl fashion: beanies, stockings, boots, layers
hot, hot showers {my poor skin!}
reading a book in one sitting
not feeling an ounce of guilt for being lazy
Winter weekend getaways {cheap rates & fun times}
my birthday

What do you love about Winter? Or do you loathe it through and through?

  1. Love this! I was grumbling this morning on my walk about my running nose and watering eyes, so must come up with ways I LOVE Winter!

  2. I am so jealous of you right now!! We have opposite seasons. It is almost summer and it has been in the upper 90's.
    I feel like I am melting.

    Fall and winter are my favorite seasons.

    I love hot chocolate after I come in from the outside. With little marshmellos. Yum Yum!!

    So enjoy all that winter delights have to offer!!

  3. I do love winter, but it goes a little too long here in Canberra. At least I get plenty of opportunities to indulge in my boot obsession.
    And hot showers after a cold afternoon walk in the park – it makes me feel like I'm in a Jane Austen novel : ) (though I guess they didn't get the hot shower)

  4. Love your list Chantelle! I have been saying that I want to find things I love about winter JUST so I can get through it! I am not a winter fan at all!!!!!!! But this year I am going to try to like the shorter days, the dry skin, cracked lips, extra loads of washing that take longer to dry etc Hahahaaaa!! Seriously though – this year I will try to find the positives. Cassie x

  5. I am so down with making casseroles in winter, its not even funny. moments before I read this, I was thinking – this Melbourne weather is a travesty when it comes to skin care, I need a good moisturiser STAT! have a happy first day of winter!

  6. I love the snow days the kids get from school : )
    I love snowmen and cocoa and cuddles.
    I love how pretty the world gets. I am not a fan of driving in it though. EEEEK : )

  7. I think this is going to be one loooooooong winter as I agree it's already felt like winter for weeks!

    I like winter food. My birthday is in winter. I like being lazy. Other than that, I'm a summer girl, don't really like this cold thing at all.

  8. Oh I love all you mentioned too! Winter in Qld isn't quiet as cold, but still get to rug up in scarves & boots! Love it! nice blog piece with something positive about winter for a change! Thx

  9. I'm a summer girl but there are things I love about winter. Snuggling in bed is the best, and making big batches of soup.
    Thanks for making me remember things aren't so bad when it's cold!

  10. I must say, I could only adopt a few of your loves. As far as the comfort food goes, I've never been a huge fan. Must pull out the slow cooker and experiment more, though.

    I have adopted your list Chantelle, and made my own in an attempt to keep it going. I hope you don't mind!

    Perhaps others can adopt it as well, and keep it going – sort of like the Wordless Wednesday / Meet me on Monday type posts!

  11. Lovely post! It is still weird to read about how amazing winter is when here in North Carolina it is 80+ degrees =\… I dream of winter right now!

  12. I love porridge and soup.
    being able to sleep snuggled up with the bf without sticking to each other.
    the fashion – scarves and coats. oh and this winter I am big on ponchos, so warm for the commute, it's like wearing a blanket!

  13. Hot chocolate, fluffy socks and being able to go for outdoor runs without getting sweaty. Love it.

    Don't appreciate having the sniffles 24/7 though. Cold and flu season is a bit shite. x

  14. A beautiful list Chantelle and you have captured pretty much all of the reasons I like Winter also. I don't LOVE Winter, but there are some wonderful aspects of it.
    It is a nice time of year for being around the beaches, locals only ;o)
    Snuggling in bed and hot hot meals are also divine.
    Oh AND the long boots, gorgeous! xo
    P.S. Love the pic… isn't she stunning with those bluer than blue peepers!

  15. It's summer here and in the upper 90's. I feel like a snowman who is melting 😉 I must say I love my winter wardrobe more then my summer wardrobe.

  16. I love winter to and have decided to take a photo a day of the snuggly things I wore. Namely boots, scarves and hats. Melbourne sure is fabulous for rugging up. Oh, and there's nothing than a choc self-sauce pudding when it's cold! Yum!
